Fallen Earth.
I played it very early on when it just came out and it was nearly unplayable with how much lag there was ( I think it?s because they didn?t have any EU servers ). Did they fix that?
I remember the lag well, but that's long since been addressed and the game runs a lot smoother now. Additionally, not too long ago they rebuilt Embry, the sector one hub town, to enable it to run smoother, since that's where so many people congregate.

Star Trek Online.
A friend of mine who played it for 2 month or so at launch complained that there was almost no content after a certain level . is that still a problem ?
I haven't ran into any lack of content. I'm nowehere near level cap (I level very slowly) but I'm not finding myself at a loss for things to do, between the main narrative, dailies and sectors of space you can just explore randomly. I played it a bit at launch and came away a bit lukewarm, it was okay but not worth the sub. Having went back to it now I can say I was much more impressed. It's improved a lot from what it was.

Also Is it a fan game? or can I into it as someone who never watched a single episode of star track in his life (ohhhh the shame , it burns??..)
If you went into it with an open mind about how it'll play I'd say yes. By which I mean, for example, the ground combat is less showy than some, since you're not some godlike one man army, but a Starfleet officer with an away team (your bridge officers, who are pretty competent NPC back up on ground missions.) Similary, the space combat is more tactical than just zoom zoom pew pew. These are big ships with hundreds of crew so it's a lot about getting into position, keeping your strongest shields toward the enemy while maximising how many of your own firing arcs you can bring to bear on the target, and using your special abilities to maximise your damage output and counter their attacks. Like I said, I love the starship combat.

The Trek feel is definitely there, but it does a reasonable job of showing and explaining the setting for the uninitiated.

Well the Secret World has a free weekend starting a 9PM or something GMT tonight, you literally have nothing to lose by going to the website, downloading the game and trying it this weekend.
I got that e-mail as well. I thought you had to buy the game first. But you can just play for free this weekend?

Oops. My bad.

I'm gonna blame the new forum layout.

Spiral Knights is a pretty good (if somewhat grindy) dungeon crawler MMO.

City of Heroes/Villains is also worth a look at if you want something with an insane amount of character customization that's 'familiar yet different'

Rift is pretty fun and I think it has unlimited trial now.
It's familiar but also adds enough for it not to be the same game. The rift events are awesome.
Like others, I would like to know why you don't GW2 will be playable on launch?
I think the beta weekends have been amazing and I can't wait for the finished product =D

I'll second giving The Secret a spin while they've got the whole free play weekend thing going.

It's got some polish issues and the interface varies between fine but takes some getting used to and straight up wonk but the things it does right there's no direct competitor for.

Guild Wars 2 may be another good choice? Not sure... haven't seen anything from it. but it seems promising. (The first Guild War didn't appeal to me at all.)
I wouldn't judge GW2 based on what GW1 was. GW1 was slow-paced, heavily instanced and had a super-heavy emphasis on PvP.

GW2 is sandboxy, for the most part not instanced and very action-heavy. It also innovates almost every area of traditional MMO design just enough to be recognizable

I hear The Secret World is good. But then I've also heard it's really bad from some other people, so who knows. First thing that springs to mind anyway.

Yeah. One of my friends is already beyond the definition of a Fanboy when it comes GW2... he just can't shut up about it, but those few things I managed to piece together between his "how good it is"-explanations it does seem they've taken a whole new path for the Guild Wars genre.

I wouldn't call GW2 "sandboxy" in the slightest, but it's a lot more of a traditional MMO than GW1, which used a model not unlike Diablo 3. GW1 and GW2 are very different games.

As for the OP, I'll add my voice to "GW2 will be unplayable at launch...how, exactly?". I guess three perfectly playable beta weekends and a perfectly playable stress test a couple of days ago = unplayable at launch now.

I'd recommend The Secret World, its story is incredible and (depending on your pace) will take you anywhere from 2 weeks - a month to finish. It also has a pretty decent endgame and monthly content updates. I see a great future for it.
As long as you tolerate a few bugs and enjoy a good story, TSW is a very good game.

The only MMO that I've been impressed with recently is GW2. I'm probably going to play TOR single player style once it goes F2P, but GW2 looks genuinely interesting. It seems like Bloodline Champions style combat.

The Secret World was unimpressive despite my character getting a blowjob 5 minutes in, and I enjoy my traditional staples too much to drop into one of the random Spiral Knights/non-traditional MMOs.

Lord of the Rings Online
World of Warcraft(spend many years in the game.. its alright if you are new to it.. but.. oh the old glory days.. i dont play it anymore)
The Secret World(about to try the free thingy this weeekend)
EVE Online(spend a decent amount on it... keep returning to it for some reason... MMO in Space with ships and shit!)
Guild Wars 2(so far from what ive tired in Beta... solid MMO that doesnt require monthly fee)
Star Wars: The Old Republic... if you like kotor 1 & 2 buy 3 months subscribtion for it and complete all the characters stories and you've pretty much played KOTOR 3 :p

"In the slightest"? How come?
It doesn't have any hallmarks of a sandbox game. EVE is a sandbox game. UO had elements of a sandbox. GW2 is a theme park game, much like WoW or EQ. The dynamic events may make it a less rigid and more interesting theme park, but it's still a theme park.

The level scaling does add in a bit of free roaming, but the free roaming only runs backwards, not forwards, so you are still marched through the content in the order the developers designed it for you to see it in.

Don't get me wrong, this is not an insult. GW2 is a fantastic, content-rich game with a lot of really nice tweaks to what had become an increasingly stagnant formula, it's just not a true sandbox game. You go around calling it a sandbox and EVE fans are going to get all perked up and then get angry when they realize the truth.

Well as said before Guild Wars 2 looks very promising and is actually enjoyable (played in the beta) and Rift is extremely fun and is f2p for the first 20 levels I believe. Also The Old Republic will be going to free to play which never hurts to give that a try.
