X-Men: Days of Future Past Trailer Crosses Generations

<youtube=pK2zYHWDZKo>
The characters from the original X-Men trilogy must save their future by changing their past selves.

Marvel released the official trailer for upcoming movie X-Men: Days of Future Past today. There are many familiar faces in the film, and both the original X-Men cast and their younger selves in X-Men: First Class feature in the film. Wolverine must travel to the past to stop a war before it begins.

Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen reprise their roles as Professor X and Magneto, and James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender also reprise their roles as the younger selves of the two characters. Many other actors are back, such as Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Halle Berry as Storm, Anna Paquin as Rogue, Shawn Ashmore as Iceman, Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde, and of course Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Some of the older characters should not be around for Days of Future Past because of events in X-Men: The Last Stand, but director Bryan Singer has said there will be an explanation for their return. In addition, Peter Dinklage, known for his role as Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, stars as the antagonist, Bolivar Trask, a character who considers the rise of mutants as a threat to humanity.

Singer has worked on two previous films in the series, X-Men and X2. Days of Future Past is not only a sequel to X-Men The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class but is also a follow-up to this year's The Wolverine. The upcoming movie will be the first to mix both original and younger selves in one movie.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is scheduled for release on May 23, 2014.

Except wasn't Professor X dead thanks to the third movie? Or are we changing things up again?

I'm not that big of a fan of the Fox X-men movies (especially the god-awful looking Wolverine flicks) but since First Class managed to catch my attention I guess that I'll give this one a shot.

I know it has the potential to become so bloated with plot and characters that it collapses in on itself into a wibbley-wobbly-timey-wimey mess but oh holy shit it is so hard not to get hyped watching that

That trailer looked very poorly edited, nothing wrong with the actual movie but the trailer itself.

Lets see how it goes, I liked First Class so there is that.

That trailer give me that "throwing my wallet at the screen" kind of feeling. I was kind of on the fence before, but now I'm all in.

it has been a while since I've seen 3 so my memory is fuzzy, but if I recall correctly in the scene after the credits moira mctaggert is looking over the guy that was braindead in the hospital that they mentioned one time earlier in the movie and X apparently put his consciousness into him, pops up and is all "I'm alive" or something.

In the third movie Xavier jumped into the body of the braindead comatose patient he spoke of in class that Moira was watching over. I'm thinking that character could have been Proteus or some other uber-mutant that could manipulate time/reality and give him a new body.

After credits scene in the third movie covers that issue.

OT: Looks a whole lot better than those Wolverine movies and The Last Stand.

Well, colour me interested!
Seems much better than The Wolverine, which kinda proves to me that Huge Jackoff can't carry a movie all by himself.

And Peter Dinklage at 1:46?! Give that man some mutant powers, he'd be awesome!

I'm getting a little sick of hearing Adagio in D Minor in every goddamn trailer and movie. It's the new Lux Aeterna. Yes it sounds epic and inspirational but now it's just becoming cliché.

Oh, and hopefully this movie is good. Pallindromemordnillap has a point that this could easily turn into a mess of plot threads, hopefully Singer is smart enough to avoid that.

I wantz this may actually give the x-men movies further momentum to keep rolling past first class and onto bigger and better things!

Continuity issues, continuity issues everywhere. No amount of time travel can fix the issues that the X-Men films have.

Perhaps they can finally finish the job of officially retconning X3 out of existence.

Danm, I was hoping to see a Sentinel in the trailer! Oh well I will have to settle for seeing Bishop in the trailer!

I think that is the ENTIRE point of this movie - "to stop the war before it starts."

I thought First Class was okay, but was skeptical of the whole 'it's a reboot but not really' approach until now. They've been pretty tight lipped on what type and how extensive of a role the original actors would play in the movie up until now. I think most people viewed it as nothing more than a cash-in on big names, but this trailer just smashed that out of the water. oh goodness, I think I'm going to have to watch all 3.5 X-Men movies over again before this comes out May 23rd.

And Wolverine would go back in time in a younger body... why ?
I mean, even in first class he was the same as before...
not a very good start if you want to fix continuity issues if you ask me...
Oh well, I'm still curious to see it, though.

EDIT: Mmmmh, I think I completely misunderstood the whole thing... I'll have to rewatch it later...
