I was about to say so too.Lufia Erim said:And nothing of value was added. I like this arc, i really do, but this is taking forever. We already established last comic gunny was stabbed.
They couldn't do that in either the last page, or this page, because?Bentusi16 said:This comic is a set up for a one liner man.
And if the next page is only a one liner, then it's Another wasted page!Bentusi16 said:Because the next comic is likely to be a splash image of the red panda saying his one liner and then the action.Mr.Mattress said:They couldn't do that in either the last page, or this page, because?Bentusi16 said:This comic is a set up for a one liner man.
Pffft, but this is TEH INTERWEBZ!!!! WE DEMAND INSTANT GRATIFICATION OR RAGEQUIT/UNSUBSCRIBE/#BIGHTME!!!!!lacktheknack said:people complain that it's too slow
Ya know, if more people supported their Patreon, they'd be able to output more panels per week (as explained in their funding goal section). Surely that's a better solution than just ragequitting.
Slower Pace =/= "Hey, let's spend an entire comic page on a guy having a knife in him!" That's ridiculous!lacktheknack said:people complain that it's too slow
So what? I like it. I like it slow, ponderous, and occasionally static. There's more to appreciate in a webcomic than just the plot.Mr.Mattress said:Slower Pace =/= "Hey, let's spend an entire comic page on a guy having a knife in him!" Slower pace doesn't mean you can just stop on one thing for an entire page. Or spend multiple pages discussing something that could be finished in one page.
Yes, you can.
That's the cool thing about art: You can do whatever the heck you want.
This isn't a slower pace, this is a complete stop in the story. The beginning were Erin was interacting with Rad, that's slower paced. The start of the Gunlord Arc, where Erin was refusing to fight while Gunny and Rad were fighting, that's slower paced. When you've spent 10 pages in one spot (We've been in this building since #35, and we met Chinese Dragon Arbiter in #37), you've officially stopped in your tracks. It wouldn't be this bad if more were happening, but all that's happened is they refused to sell Gunny to the enemy and are now in a fight sequence that's dragging out for no reason.
That's a more eloquent version of what I was going to say: there IS such a thing as too slow if you drag out the story needlessly.Mr.Mattress said:Slower Pace =/= "Hey, let's spend an entire comic page on a guy having a knife in him!" Or reading an Avengers comic by Brian Michael Bendis. Hey-yo! (now lets see how many people know what I'm talking about).CaitSeith said:It feels like I'm watching anime: it takes three episodes for the character to make his special move...
The thing is though this style typically ends up being much better on a second read. Those webcomics that are pretty slow (And there are a few of them) may be really terrible to keep up with on a update basis but they beat the instant gag ones any day of the week once the story is finished / you reread a chapter. Meanwhile those that are pretty fast tend to be rather weak when you reflect / look back on them.Mr.Mattress said:Slower Pace =/= "Hey, let's spend an entire comic page on a guy having a knife in him!"
