If you listen really closely, you can actually hear Kaz Hirai's pulse in the distance. It sounds like... 'ka-ching... ka-ching... ka-ching...'.

I like how the chart low-key shows how when they finally roll out 1TB+ consoles the price will likely remain the same...very sneaky Sony. I wouldn't mind the 500GB console but if every game needs to be installed 500GB still doesn't seem like the best version to pick up yet...admittedly, a price cut is a price cut and I am feeling a bit tempted...Just hurry up and roll out the standard 1, 2 and/or 4TB consoles already Sony.

The PS4 takes standard SATA 2.5in laptop hard drives and they can be changed without affecting the warranty. It's not as easy as the PS3's drop in/out set up but if you can change a PC hard drive the PS4 presents no challenges.

However, you can't transfer game installs between hdds, so right after buying a new console is the time to do it. I shoved a 2TB drive in mine, all you need is the drive, a screwdriver and a minimum 8GB USB stick to download the firmware/OS onto from the Playstation website (download size about 1GB).

Easy as that and nuts to waiting for progressive upgrades over time.

And now I know! Thanks for that info.

Too bad their bundles are still lacking in interesting games to include. Not a great selection going on there

They increased the price in Canada, back in January 2014 and now they're going to decrease it.
They aren't even at the same price they were at launch with this discount.

The price disparity used to be $50, but now it's $80, which is over 20% extra.
This is why (at least according to the stores I frequent) Xbox One is selling much better up here.
I'm not happy about this price cut, but then again I already bought a PS4 before they jacked up the price.

And yet in Canada, it's impossible to get a new PS4 from stores unless you get it as a bundle. I don't want anything to do any of those bundles, and yet that's the only way I can one that isn't refurbished or from someone selling online (and Amazon.ca is selling standard edition 500 GB PS4s for $530, because that makes sense). Can someone do something about that, please? I want my Bloodborne, damn it! Games are already more expensive here, and I don't want to spend the extra cash on a game I don't want.

EDIT: Did the math, and if we assume the standard edition PS4 will have that same $50 drop to $300, then it's actually cheaper to hop the border and buy an American console (assuming 8% tax, it would be just under our lowest bundle price before our 13% tax in Ontario. This is including conversion from USD to CAD).

Interesting move to drop the price while being this strong. The Wii still had their launch price taped to a middle finger around this time.

What it's funny is that the price gap between the American price and the Canadian price for the Uncharted edition will increase after the price cut. Oh, wait. No, it's not funny at all!

I get that our dollar is down, but the prices are goddamn crazy up here. People didn't get a 30% pay increase when our dollar dropped. This is just going to ensure lower sales.

Maybe Canada should have thought about that before cancelling the Red Green show.

It's unusual to see a current-gen console that's doing this well drop their price so soon. Perhaps this will motivate me to get a PS4 so I can finally play Bloodbourne. Other than that, I have no reason to buy the system for now. I know I will eventually want a PS4, but if they're already dropping prices, maybe I can afford to wait another year.

Arrrgh, I just freaking bought my ps4 finally, with the destiny/metal gear solid bundle (399$ base, almost 500 after taxes though). Now they drop the price like 2 weeks later!! Why!!!! Wonder if I could still return it, but probably not after 2 weeks.

And all that can be done at the same price as buying a 1TB PS4? If so, then awesome!

OT: Huh... and then you end up using said 50 bones for that 1-year PS+ subscription, right? I see what you did there, Sony...

Other than that, none of those bundles amuse me... and does 50 USD really equal 20 CAD on some of those? #ConversionConfusion

They're making it hard not to play Bloodborne at this point... if Last Guardian and KH3 come out I may be sold unless the NX is FUCKING IMPRESSIVE

so.... its actually going to be the same price, just now with a more adequate HDD size and they are discounting the outdated model.
