Still, he was watching over his coworker burning down an orphanage (well, he was handing out refreshments).
I don't think anyone here is going to come out looking all that great when all is said and done.

Worse yet, incorrect spoilers! The crystals weren't themselves evil.

Not to say the game doesn't have big reveals later on, but that's not one of them. I don't think it's a spoiler to say that, since what fantasy game DOESN'T have a big paradigm shifting reveal later on.

Anyway, while I don't think McSmartass has much of a leg to stand on with the whole "helping burn down a hamlet" thing, I'm really hoping he stays around. Takes a special kind of personality to backtalk while nearly naked and surrounded by stupidly dressed nutjobs who keep blowing up your stuff.

That's what you do in (J)RPGs. You ruthlessly and mercilessly slaughter all who oppose your will while laughing like a deranged god of death "defeat" your foes, then steal "recycle" anything of value left behind.
