I am a huge Castlevania fan, it was one of the first games that I ever remember playing when I was young. Yet even though the series has had tremendous success in the realm of 2-D, the leap to the 3rd dimension is still posing problems. If I recall correctly there have been three attempts to bring this series into the 3rd dimension. Castlevania 64, Castlevania Lament of Innocence and Castlevania Curse of Darkness. Castlevania 64 was a terribly constructed game that really hurt the series confidence. Castlevania Lament of Innocence was a very solid game that some enjoyed and others hated. I personally thought that even though it cleared up the story's plot lines and reasoning behind the Belmont family curse, it still failed to present gameplay the way that hardcore fans imagined. Lastly Castlevania Curse of Darkness. I don't really know much about this game save the fact that it had very average reviews and from what I played, stuck to the formula of Lament of Innocence. I strongly desire a Castlevania game of this current generation but I fear that Konami will yet again drop the ball. So with this hazy track record I pose the question:
Can the Castlevania series ever deliver a block busting game in 3-D?
