3-D platformers

It seems that 3-D platformers have been on a downslide lately with the only five I can think of this generation (Excluding XBLA, PSN and wiiware cause they come out with 80 games a week so I don't check them) are Mario Galaxy, De Blob, Prince o' persia, Assassins creed and Ratchet and Clank.

Why is this? What is your favorite 3-D platformer? Is there anything else relating to 3-d Platformers you want to discuss? Gimme' your two cents.

I thought the parkour aspect of AC great. It was other elements that it failed at.

I have a jumping enthusiasm in Oblivion... my Argonian character is now a master of acrobatics and ALMOST a master of speed. Hence I spend a lot of time running very fast and jumping on roof tops... making a sort of 'improvised platformer' in an RPG game.

(FWI: best towns to jump on... Bruma, Bravil, Cheydinhal and Anvil.)

I believe that platformers are generally difficult to pull off if they're 3D.

As for my favorite 3D platformer, it's either Donkey Kong 64, Super Mario 64, or Super Mario Sunshine (I haven't played Galaxy yet).

Because when I started typing I could only think of three and I didn't notice that I typed that. It has been edited now though.

Not Mirror's Edge? I haven't played it, but I'm pretty sure it was a bit platforming-heavy, especially if you're including Assassin's Creed.

And my favorite 3d platformer would be Super Mario 64.

I thought little big planet was a great platformer, even if it did sometimes get your plane mixed up. ><

My favorite of all time though would have to be Mario 64. That game was just amazing in so many ways.
