No Christmas Story? I'd say "You'll shoot your eye out" is the most known quote from any Christmas movie I can think of, at least among the people I know.

Also, Christmas comes from the combination of pagan holidays and traditions, mainly revolving around the celebration of the return of sunlight as the days began to grow longer after being so short for so long. The main theory behind why Christmas came to be celebrated in winter is combination of Christians hiding from Rome by celebrating around the Winter Solstice, and England using the "return of light to the world" as a holiday symbol.

What? The modern era is only so stuck in current traditions of buying as much as possible because of the absolutely unyielding changes that occurred in the past. You might want to look up Thomas Nast. It doesn't make the point any less valid, a political cartoonist is still popular culture, but it's one of those myths that I just can't let slip by.

I'm with this post. I not only think of this as the best Christmas movie ever, but also believe it is as important a Christmas movie as the others on this list as it was the first film that I can remember to create a seasonal merchandising fad (outside of traditional xmas merchandising) as well as the first to do the whole Christmas/not Christmas movie thing which has been quite popular.The_root_of_all_evil said:
