heyo escapees i was sitting in my dorm room bored as fuck so i decided
thread now at first i didn't have an idea i was gonna do a another lame ''the last enemy you killed'' kind of deals but i decided to instead ask some questions I've been wondering now if you want you can (its more entertaining that way ;) )

1. why would ANYONE ever defend piracy i mean its stealing someone else's work and yes i've heard the ''cant afford'' argument but just cause you cant afford something doesn't give you the right to steal, i mean just think about it lets say your a developer and you just finished making a bad-ass game how would it feel to have someone steal your work simply because they couldn't ''afford'' it
.. but enough about that

2. im a total Scott pilgrim fan boy but my argument is coming from a logic stand point more then a fan-boy angle if Scott pilgrim (the movie) was received so well and praised why did it do so poorly in the box office but movies like ''eat prey love'' and Justin biebers upcoming catastrophe even being made?

3. what the hell in the great universe made sony decide THIS.http://collider.com/wp-content/uploads/Andrew-Garfield-Spider-Man-costume.jpg should be the new SP suit , and if that wasn't enough THIS. http://collider.com/wp-content/uploads/spider-man-reboot-set-photo.jpg an angsty reboot of spider man i can handle but thats.. thats just unacceptable

tl;dr
why do people pirate?

why did scott pilgrim maake so little money

why?> http://collider.com/wp-content/uploads/spider-man-reboot-set-photo.jpg

I think pirating can be justified if the game can nor be bought in your country of residence and is very difficult to get hold of. For example i live in the uk and my friend plays loads of games from japan that he can not buy. The other justification people use is that it allows them to try out a game before playing. That would be great if people would then buy a game they like but 90% of people wont.

and scot pingrim didnt do that badly if you look at how much it cost to make. It was always going to be a nich film, you overestimate the number of people who would actualy understand a lot of the jokes

question 3 - i dont know...

1 - Because they can. The same reason people shoplift, but even easier to justify to oneself. Those less honest with themselves will call it a victimless crime.

2 - I can only speak for myself here. I didn't see it because while it looked interesting, it wasn't a sure enough bet for me to drag my ass to the theater, and pay entirely too much to see it with a crowd. Nerds are terribly asocial creatures that way. If it makes you feel better, it's doing well on video.

3 - Ew. I hadn't seen that second one. Ew. Are they rebooting the Raimi films, or the 70s TV show? I read somewhere (here?) that Sony needed to do something with the franchise quickly so the rights wouldn't revert to Marvel. That would explain a lack of care. I love Spidey enough, however, to accept an actor I know nothing about and a costume that looks like... that, as long as they took the time to hire a writer who actually cares, though.

Because it's an easy way of getting a free X

I have no idea what or who that is.

1.I don't really have an opinion.

2.Honestly, people are dumb. As a movie directory you can take a chance with a new, different idea that might end up losing you money(Scott Pilgrim) or you can release the same movie twenty times, knowing that people will watch it enough so you make at least enough money back for a fourth jet. And people eat it up. "I kinda wanted to see that new indie flick that just opened this weekend, but I am afraid it might suck because I have never seen anything like it before. I guess I will see Saw 14."

3.Hey, you got your teenage angst in my Spiderman! Hey, you got your Spiderman in my teenage angst!

1. Because people like the easy way and pirating is the easiest. Because sometimes it doesn't pay to stick to the rules...I don't know. I'm not against it, I'm not for it.

2. ..Eh...no idea who Scott Pilgram is, sorry.

3. I'm guessing you haven't seen the DMC 5 trailer...Re-booting seems to be "in" again.

1. Piracy isn't theft. Yes, it's illegal. Some would even argue it's wrong. But it isn't theft. Theft, by definition, requires depriving the owner of the original, while piracy merely copies that original. I wish people could get this misconception out of their heads...
Software works different in the ''stealing'' department.

It saddened me to hear you talk about the definition without posting one, so i decided to help.

n. the generic term for all crimes in which a person intentionally and fraudulently takes personal property of another without permission or consent and with the intent to convert it to the taker's use (including potential sale).

Why is it there are no useful results on google for "How to Notify the Secretary-General of the United Nations"?

1) Because they're probably pirates themselves and therefore massive assholes as far as I'm concerned.
2) Because the universe wants to make sure we can't have nice things.
3) What exactly is your problem with that costume? It looks fine to me.

#1 because some people just don't want to spend money on games (Don't give us any excuses you know as well as we do)
#2 because people are sheep
#3 Because you can never have enough grit in the world

Software works different in the ''stealing'' department.
No, it doesn't.

Stealing software = walking into a store and shoplifting the disc.
Pirating software = illegally copying it, whether by torrent, usenet, P2P, borrowed disc, whatever.

Now guess which one actually deprived the owner of the original.....
do you think the disc matters?

its the money you stole which is the problem
