Now I know this is a huge achievement and all, seeing as I've only been here since march 2011 and managed to comment 300 times..I'm still in shock from the moment I saw the post count, but I don't want to make this thread all about myself and how incredible I am

This made me reflect on myself and how I used to be before I joined the Escapist..Obviously not much has changed since 2011, but I can honestly say, by watching all you guys and seeing all your posts, you've had a serious impact on my writing ability and I'm pretty much a completely different person compared to how I used to write, and that's just from reading all your comments and how funny and insightful they all are...So basically, I love you guys ^_^ .


But my question is, how have you changed since you've joined The Escapist?

has there been any significant change in your life? Not even necessarily directly because of The Escapist, but ANYTHING that's made a lasting difference to you, between the day you joined and right to this very second?

Well it's been almost five years for me so....yeah, a bit has changed

-I graduated from college.

-I moved out to my own place with a room-mate and now I live on my own in my tiny studio apartment.

-I've been through...three jobs? No...five jobs!? Seriously? Five jobs Tippy2k2? Granted, two of them were "college jobs" so they don't quite count.

-I lost 45 pounds!

Obviously there is a lot more that has occurred but these are probably the big things

Hey man, from where I'm standing that's not bad going at all. It's taken me over 4 years to hit 3000

Anyway, 4 years since I joined the Escapist, so yeah, I've changed a little.

I've finished high school and sixth form and got into a great university. Moved away from home. Started smoking. Recorded songs. Learned to play bass, banjo and tin whistle. Met new people. Had a few relationships. Had a few breakups. Found out about my family history. Experimented. Watched friends fall away for various reasons. Had my first sort-of serious injury. Spent a night wandering the streets of York because I got wankered and forgot my keys. Helped clear out an almost-dead forum and then carried on posting there anyway. Seen some bands live. Worked a couple jobs. Everything changes me ever so slightly, and it's all for the better.

Above all, I've stuck to this forum. Watched people come and go. Saw the first 10K posters. Saw the rise of Clique User Groups. Endured the in-topics. Paid up for Pub Club because I love this site too much. Managed to post once or twice while I was there. It's all good stuff, and I've enjoyed every second of it.

Jeez, so much has happened since I've joined haha. Some good memories on here. Met some nice people, met some not so nice people.
These forums, at their heart, literally haven't changed at all haha. Bless.

I've been here for almost 4 years, and without a doubt I have gone through extraordinary changes directly linked to the Escapist. Suffice to say, it has influenced me to the better.[sub]I hope .[/sub] I'm quite grateful for finding this site, it's nice to have a site where for example, I can discuss the things I may not necessarily be able to with my school-friends. As I mentioned in an earlier post, it has pushed me into writing on a regular basis too which is awesome.

I got my associate's degree.
I graduated from high school.
I learned to drive.
I started cursing.
I became addicted to lol.
I started posting here.
I got a writing award.
I got and left my first job (there were months separating those two events).

nope, nothing has changed. granted I have been away since early summer (i think). Still cruising along with my transition, my marriage is as strong as it's ever been. But nothing major has happened in my life since i joined this site.

Well, I joined when I was 14, I'm now 18. So yeah, I've changed quite a lot. I've done a lot of teenager-stuff basically, I'd be here all day listing everything. When I joined up here I was a lonely, unpopular, nerdy, overweight kid. I lost weight, made some great friends, had some girlfriends and generally got myself the life I wanted. Unfortunately I went to university pretty damned far away from home and it all fell apart. Yay!

-I graduated from collage.
-I quit my retail job of 6 years in favor of a better job.
-I learned stuff, a lot of stuff
-I learned more stuff about other peoples perspectives.
-I lightened up a little.
-I made some friends

-I totaled my first car
-I bought my second car
-I became old enough to drink

Since my joining I've learned that the ending to Mass Effect 3 sucked BTWactually.

On a serious note since joining the site my English has become incredibly good, well what I mean is that my English has gone up in terms of how I was before, I'm no oscar wilde and I'm no journalist, so compared to them I'm useless but to myself I'm pretty happy with this upward trend of literary skill.

Since joining I have been convinced to join Steam, have met incredible people throughout several of the sub-forums here, have actually physically met a friend here.

Unrelated to the Escapist, I have found love, lost love, found love again, graduated High School, graduated a documentary film program and have lost and found 3 jobs. Life keeps going and so do I. I can say without a shred of doubt that I'm happier as a person than I was when I first joined.

I hope everyone has a great Christmas. I have to go about finding a good gift for my mom now.

OT: How I've changed? Hmmm...

Well my writing has improved, I used to not bother with capital letters and full stops, but after being in the Role Playing forums for so long, it became habit.

I've made new friends, and lost old ones.

I've become a Moderator, so I've been given a lot more responsibility

Hm...when I first joined the escapist, I was getting towards the end of my first year of university. Now I'm getting towards the third year of university and have a much better understanding of computers than when I started, but haven't really learnt anything about biochemistry, which is my course.
