I know I'm risking a lot of 'search bar etc' replies, but I don't care, I'm a man in urgent need and I want to ask a bunch of people I trust what they think. Which is where my legions of Escapists come in.
My 360 Elite is gone. Kaput. Dead parrot jokes, etc. Before anyone asks, I've talked to Microsoft about replacements with no success, I'm out of warranty, and I've tried all the fixes you can name (which may be WHY it's now permanently buggered.)
My question is ideally to those of you who have one of the 250gb Slim machines released earlier in the year. Is it worth it, or should I get myself another Elite? (This one did last 3 years, after all.)
Has anyone had serious problems with it? Particularly in terms of overheating? Are there any glaring issues that would make you think twice about purchasing it in hindsight?
I need to know because I have a pretty big Halo Reach night planned with friends and system linking and several very large TVs in a small room (don't judge me) and the star of the show has exploded on me 6 days before the big night, so opinions, please.
Much obliged to you all.
On a related note: Has anyone else had their machine killed by Mass Effect 2 in particular? Probably a coincidence, but both times my Elite died (the first being just a brush with death, the second being a very definite KO) it was while playing ME:2. And a lot of games were played in between for considerable amounts of time.
