360 Controller Failure. HELP!

I got Tales of Vesperia for Christmas and was excitedly playing it and then I got into a battle.
During the battle my xBox controller disconnected 8 times even though it had 50% battery life.
I put new batteries in it got into another battle and the same thing happened.

Then whilst playing Brutal Legend earlier I used the roadies duel attack and every time I used it, the damn controller disconnected all other times during the game it works fine.

Has anyone else had similar problems of a controller disconnecting at specific times? If so how the hell do I fix it, I can tell not being able to get into battles might become a bit of a hindrance.

EDIT: All my other games work fine, no DC at all.

I had the same problem but only after 'resetting' my 360 controller for use with a different 360.
The batteries might be dead even though the controller says they're nearly full.
It's also possible that something is interfering with the controller's bluetooth signal.

That's happened to me a couple of times, but it's a rare occurence. And since I love the idea of wireless gaming, it's not bad enough for me to want to get a wired controller. Thing is, I sometimes game when I'm cooking (in my little basement flat in the house I share with my friends, I have a living room area where the Xbox is and a kitchen area on one side where it's a seperate room, with one door into there, but otherwise completely open plan so it looks really large). I'll happily stand by the oven playing Oblivion while I'm doing a spag bol or something, so wired gaming would be pretty bad for me. So yes, I have had that controller problem, but I won't go and change it for a wired controller. Obviously it's down to you whether it's better for you to change the controller, but then again, everyone's circumstances will be different...

wow that job would suck.

OT: have you tried different controllers, maybe it's a problem with the game, interfering with the connection software.

actually that's an uneducated stab to sound smart, I guess I really am only useful for singing and playing bass

(try the multiple controller thing though, that might actually help)

I would call MS support at 1800-4MY-XBOX.
