Mass Effect is mandatory. And don't you DARE play the second one first, so help me god.

I'd also recommend Saints Row 2 above Prototype. Prototype is fun and all, especially if you're in a bad mood, but Saints Row 2 is always fun, no matter how you're feeling, and lasts forever.

I would recommend Monday Night Combat and Comic Jumper in terms of Arcade Goodness and Alan Wake or Split/Second for Normal Games.

Well I just got a 360 Slim for my Bday (my first Xbox-ANYTHING)
and because we couldn't out and out afford a real "game" we bought me some MS points (because I REALLY wanted Castle Crashers)

so my question for you is

What's a good 360 game?

now my few rules

nothing fallout (because I prefer computer for that)
nothing halo or gears (I hate halo and gears)

and I already plan on getting MvC3 and the new Castlevania (and sonic 4... *cough*)

so what's your favorite?

ALSO!
if any of you are huge Castle Crasher fans, be sure to let me know, once I get XBL for a month I really need to group up with some crashers (I can get from level 1 to level 40 in about an hour)

EDIT: oh and people, I'm a bit of an Arcade addict, so XBLA games are the right way to go!
you hate Halo and Gears within 24 hours of getting an xbox??

OT: You should give them a go, but I would say the L4D series, they are awesome to play :)
Others would be Bioshock 1 & 2, and Metro 2033. Dead Space if you are into horror and Forza 3 for a good racing game.

The Call of Duty series are also all great as well.

I'd advise selling it and buying a PS3, clearly if you hate GoW and Halo, the 2 main series of games on the 360 you may as well have just got a PS3, it would really have made much more sense.
other then the fact that no one here has a PS3, and that they're $200 more then a 360 slim, and that there ARE XBLA titles that I really want that ARE NOT ON THE PS3

so suggestion, stop being a PS3 dick in my forum, I said suggest a 360 game, not defend your overpriced console that has a joke of a motion control system and still can't seem to sell

I already have MvC2
Toy Soldiers I'll look at
Left 5 Dead 7 I'd prefer on computer
Limbo I've already explained... Too short a game for a $15 price tag

A good game if no one has mentioned it yet is Limbo, You said you like pc more, so mass effect is out of the question, Dragon Age is better on PC as well...
Rainbow Six Vegas, the online is pretty good, probably still a large terrorist hunt community out there, Viva pinata is good if your into that sim city kind of thing, I'm sure people will mention other good games that are out there.
Everyone has mentioned it and again I'll say it

Too SHORT for it's $15 price tag (plus oddworld on the PS1 was way better)

Go to XBLA and get Shadow Complex immediately! Not just good for an XBLA game, good for an XBOX game. Other than that there ar tons of mainstream AAA titles we could throw at you, but it all comes down to personal choice. I for example loved Mirror's Edge, The Force Unleashed and Borderlands. You might not, but I think these are worth checking out. Bad Company 2 is good for some online FPS fun. Psychonauts is a great original XBOX game avaliable for download.

Have fun:)
Played the shadow complex demo and LOVED IT!
thanks for the suggestion :)

Fair enough, and if no one else has said these,
Splosion man, Shadow Complex and Comic Jumper are good (although i've only played the trials of the last 2)

And Hydrophobia is supposed to be quite good, personally i found nothing special about it, althought the trial doesn't contain much.

Viva Pinata.
Seriously.
I'm a 15 year oold boy and I love it.
My 10 year old sister loves it.
My 15 year old friends love it.
My 19 year old brother loves it.

Everyone loves Viva Pinata.
Even Chuck Norris.
1) you just lost that credability with the chuck norris comment
2) I'm 18 not 15... and trust me THERE'S A DIFFERENCE (I would know... 3 years ago RE4 made me go "ew" now I play Madworld and laugh)
I admit the Chuck Norris comment was a bit random but I would seriously recoommend checking out Viva Pinata. I did say my brother like it. Just borrow it off a mate or rent it or something. It's amazing!

Nice try, but I spend more time on my 360 than I do on my PS3, a lot of the users of The Escapist have PS3's and a PS3 is not $200 more than a 360 slim. Really that makes your entire point invalid. So let me get this straight, you bought it for XBLA games that you already know you want? Then why are you asking what games you should get? Surely when you buy a console you look at what games are out and then decide whether the console is what you are after.

All you seem to be doing is complaining about whatever anyone says and rejecting the ideas without ever playing the game which is just ignorant and arrogant. Like the person saying Viva Pinata, you just dismissed it because he's 15, well I'm 18 and I enjoyed Viva Pinata, I know people in their 20's who liked that game, but you're probably going to try and come up with something witty and call me a dick again for saying something that you reject because you're not willing to give it a try on a thread all about you trying new stuff?

Also ragging on Playstation move when Kinect is coming out, all I can say is as much as I detest motion controls over all at least Move is responsive.

Also it's not your forum it's your thread and it's open which means I am allowed to spill my opinions whereever I feel like, if you don't like that then don't post on a public forum.

Arcade Titles - Limbo, Shadow Complex, Trials HD.
All are AMAZING!

Exclusives - Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Halo: Reach(I know you said you don't like Halo but it really is a fantastic shooter), Gears 2(seriously, same story its fucking awesome).

Multiplats - Bioshock, Saints Row 2, Red Dead Redemption, Dragon Age: Origins, GTA4.

All of those are pretty much essential, I am sure I am missing a few but I can't remember any more as I have a habit of giving my games to my friends and then forgetting about them :p)

it will undoubtedly quench your thirst for fun

plus how do you know you hate Halo and Gears if you've never had anything xbox-y before?

Older games:
Dead Space and Bioshock are a must, obviously. Bayonetta is the pinnacle of its genre. If you like Mario Kart style racing, pass over Blur (it has way too many problems) and go for Sonic & SEGA All Stars Racing. It's the best Kart game that isn't Mario Kart.

Newer games: Enslaved: OttW is a genuine triumph of storytelling, animation, writing, character interaction and acting. The game itself is a little on the short side and the platforming is too "automated", but the combat is satisfying enough that the gameplay stands up too. Vanquish is the exact opposite: It has a dreadful story, painful acting and terrible characters, but its balls-to-the-wall relentless action with perfect controls and addictive gameplay offset it just fine. It's also on the short side, though, and neither game has multiplayer.

As for XBLA games, DeathSpank and DeathSpank: ToV are by far the funniest games in existence, and at over 12 hours each you won't feel cheated out of your $15.

okay I need to say this in order... or at least try to...

360 slim in THIS AREA AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME (here and now) is $200, the PS3 Slim is $350
"but that doesn't add up to a $200 difference!"
I had a 25% off your next purchase coupon I got for my birthday from that store (for being a member)

next... yes I looked at both the 360 AND the PS3, don't really care for the PS3 honestly (although the free online was a HUGE nudge in it's favor) but then again there's the problem of I prefer to play multiplayer games with people I know, and only 1 person here has a PS3 everyone else has 360s (so I prefer to have a console I CAN play with others)

and... I didn't dismiss it, I've played it, I couldn't stand it, same thing with animal crossing, I don't understand the appeal of those games and I'm really starting to feel age IS a factor in it all, and I did try it, and I'll try any game (except another mario kart because honestly those ARE all the same... same with GTA)

I only complain when people post the same thing over and over and over and over and over (look at how often people say "Try Limbo" despite my already answering it time and time again)

Honestly, Kinect I have NO intrest in at ALL... I saw the lag and how unresponcive it is, and PS Move was also a crappy joke, I don't know why everyone wants motion controls all of a sudden... well other then the fact that the Wii has the most sales but what they don't see is that the Wii did it RIGHT

so in short, I hate all motion control ideas (that I've seen/tested/other) except the Wii (preferably with motionplus) because they did it RIGHT

yes yes, everyone is entitled to opinions, but there's a difference between...
stating your mind: "I would have picked a PS3 personally"
and being a douche: "You should sell it and get that Xbox called a PS3 it's WAAAAAAAY better lololololololol"

Batman: Arkham Asylum is pretty awesome.
Prototype is probably my favorite super-hero(villain) sandbox game--you are basically a god.
Call Of Duty 4 or Bioshock if you're into the FPS thing at all... although you might as well PC that if you are.
The Lego games (Star Wars, Indy, Harry Potter, Batman) are great fun, but also available for PC.

And while you've already rejected it, I still say Saints Row 2, because it is so unbelievably over-the-top. It's fun stealing SWAT tanks then pimping them out with spinning rims and custom paintjobs. It's only just south of Prototype in the pure mayhem department.
