To start off, I am an AVID amazon.com shopper. I love finding games for $7 with shipping and handling.

The problem with this is, that the majority of the games i buy are relatively old games. I'm a MASSIVE achievement whore and the games with online achievements I'm not able to get because no one else plays these games anymore. It's a HUGE annoyance to be at 975/1000 and not be able to get that last 25 points because i cant play a single online match. I may be just venting, but anyone else feel this way? Do you think online achievements are a bad idea or am i just being a pissy baby?

Rockstar Presents: Table Tennis is perhaps the epitome of this. I've searched online for people, and I've hardly found anyone.

Most sports games are heavy users of online achievements. Never try to get the Virtua Tennis ones, its just not happening.

I smell a fanboy in this thread!

And yes, they are dumb. I've only got 50% of the trophies for BF:BC, since I don't want to play it online.

Achievements aside my greatest annoyance with certain console games is that their multiplayer base dies off fairly quickly and forces me to buy the PC version because odds are there will be at least some people playing it.

Please don't be so rude in your posts.

I love getting achievements, and I hate online achievements for two reason.

1)They force you to do nigh-impossible things for a minor amount of gamerscore.

2)As in the OP, there's not enough people.
I wouldn't say impossible just long and tedious. I do agree they should be banned except for 1 type. The "play each type of match on each map once" ones are acceptable. It encourages you to at least try the online.

Although I gotta say it does kinda serve you right for buying it used 2 years later. The devs are saying screw you right back since you said it to them first by buying thier product without them seeing a dime from you.

FUCK online achievements, they are a pain in the ass to get when no one plays, and often force people to play differently (read: like a moron) just to get a random 5 point boost. I love achievements, but most online achievements are not worth it.

My main problem with most online achievements is that most are too damn hard to pull off. Case in point: Halo 3. I will probably never get Steppin' Razor and Two For One because its too damn hard to get a sword triple kill and a Laser Double kill in a ranked online match.

Well, the only problem is if that people find a newer game, they all swarm on that.
The only way I see fit for it is to find a LOT of friends who have the game and are willing to play at a suitable time. But, I know how you feel. Especially games which only have like 5 online achievements and they're not even worth much.
Just feels like a waste if no-one plays it and you're stuck.
