Gran Turismo 5 Forced to Pit Again

The perpetually delayed Gran Turismo 5 has been pushed back even further.

A few things are certain in the videogame industry: Duke Nukem Forever does not actually exist, Mario will be popping mushrooms until the end of time, and the Fantasy is never Final. Another is that Gran Turismo 5 [http://www.amazon.com/Gran-Turismo-5-Playstation-3/dp/B002BSA1C6/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1280784231&sr=1-1] will constantly be pushed back until it hits the edge of space, at which point it will be pushed into another dimension. The game is now one step closer to that end, with it being officially delayed from a previously anticipated March release date in Japan. It was expected in other territories around the summertime.

The wait since Gran Turismo PSP [http://www.amazon.com/Gran-Turismo-4-Playstation-2/dp/B0000A0MDV/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1280784254&sr=1-1], which was released in October, doesn't count, just because it doesn't. Normally when a game is delayed, another release date or at least a window is given to replace the old one. Gran Turismo 5's delay was accompanied by no such replacement, meaning that somebody is still figuring this out in a cold, dark room.

Gran Turismo 5 is reportedly already in the hole to the tune of $60 million, making me wonder if it even has the possibility of making a profit. Do people still care enough about Gran Turismo to buy that many copies? If not, I suspect we'll be seeing lots of DLC car and track packs. I guess we'll be seeing those anyway.

No official reason was given for the delay. still can't let go [http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/technology/article6985939.ece].

it makes sense to push it back for that reason. also it gives people enough time to get money.

Shit, this thing is going to have to be kick-fucking-ass when it comes out. Although I can guarantee it won't be.

somebody is still figuring this out in a cold, dark room.
You'd think they would have proper heating and lighting in those rooms by now.

OT:I can wait a little longer, I am in no big hurry to get the game. and besides march sees a few releases that I have been waiting for and another one would only make me have to spend more money in that short period of time.

I think by the time it actually comes out racing in that style will be redundant and we'll all race in F-zero type cars.

Gran Turismo's brick wall difficulty curve is absurd
they will likely not make a profit once you add in returns and resales, but because Gran Turismo is unplayable without a total mastery of all things car and console bordering on godhood

By the time this comes out Forza 4 will be released, Duke Nukem: Forever will be in the final stages in development, and Half Life: Episode 3 will have a release date.

I am quite excited for Gran Turismo, I did enjoy GT4 though regrettably I sold it. Though I always felt that I was playing the game wrong...

Well that's not really entirely disappointing considering I may just be getting back from some military training by the time it gets close to release.

Unfortunately a few other titles I've been looking forward to release around the time that I'll actually be in training :[

Can't wait for some high def rally!

Grand Turismo never interested me and now it just kind of bugs me. How many perfectly awesome driving sims have come out and got stellar ratings/reviews before GT5 has? Hell, they were in development for a year it seems while GT5 keeps going.

Point being Need for Speed Shift, Dirt, Dirt 2, Forza, Forza 2, Real Racing, have all been developed, and sent out and will probably be in the bargain bin, and have their next incarnations out by the time GT5 comes out.

Oh well, better games to be played on the PS3, Ratchet and Clank for one, wait there's 2 of those.

Gran Turismo, lol. Simulation it is not... Sorry, but it isn't all that realistic. Although at least it does have car damage now.

Has anyone ever noticed that they do this with every single one?

They are almost as bad as Valve, pushing the dates back
