To all who visit the Escapist,
I am currently in my second year of college in the US (native) working on a fine arts degree in graphic design. I started into this degree because there was little to be found online at the time of my college hunt in terms of 3D character modeling and animation instruction that carried legitimate weight in the real world, and graphic design was the closest I could get from any colleges in my part of the country. Having asked around in the industry and received some unsure responses about education I come to you escapist community.
If you know someone who is currently working in the game development industry, (3D animation, level design, textures all the better) I would certainly appreciate some advice with determining a new course of education. I am getting tired of web searches that give me the same technical schools that don't offer degrees and are just forming some semblance of education in the field to entice unknowing youths into wasting money on a program that provides nothing of value. I am pursuing a career in 3D animation and modeling and have hit an impasse where I realize that my general graphic design program is not going to adequately prepare me for this field.
Thank you for taking the time to read and assist if able.
