Apologies if this has been done, but since it's a pretty recent piece of news and the search came up with nothing, I think I'm okay.

So I just read an article [http://events.uk.msn.com/tech/ces/article.aspx?cp-documentid=151666429] on MSN News, covering CES 2010.

Basically, the article mentions the recent push by manufacturers for 3D TV.

Now, I don't know about you, but I like 3D. Pretty much every movie that I've seen in the cinema recently has been in 3D. I quite like the effect that it creates and I think, in some ways, it justifies the high price that you have to pay at the cinema.

And in many ways, I like the idea of 3D TV in my own house, but having just spent a lot of money on a big HDTV set, I'm not all that willing to spend just as much - if not more - money on a 3DTV set.

But what do you think?

Are you ready and/or willing to be part of the new visual craze?

I won't buy it, it would be a pain having to wear classes every time I want to watch TV, and 3D gives me a headache

Channel 4 tried it , I seen no difference:| Although I was hoping for stick out of the screen 3D and not the 3D that is sorta out the screen but more just makes the TV look better, like Avatar.

The only film i've seen recently in 3D was Avater. I was extremly sceptical about the quality of the 3D when going in. I thought it would be incredibly cheesy and over the top. Much to the annoyance of my girlfriend. However i was taken back by the quality of it. Which is more than i can say for the plot.

I think if done well 3D can be highly effective but like any new form of medium it can/will be abused and will not be good for all films/genres/tv shows/etc. I can't imagine downfall or shindlers list in 3D.

i relise that what i've said so far is largely about 3D in cinema but i feel its the same principle for TV. I'd enjoy some stuff on TV in 3D but not all. Whereas I enjoy all TV in HD. At the moment i don't feel HD and 3D can be compared, the former being the next step in technology and quality and the latter being almost a new medium.

Amusingly, I just read something about CES as well, they had 3D TVs that did not require you to wear glasses too.

I still watch to an old, huge and very heavy TV that has a resolution far behind HD and can live with that. I'm sure I can live without 3D TV too.
