My 3DS has the unfortunate problem of dust making the triggers unusable unless I (literally) take my breath away blowing into it (even then, it's only temporary). I've seen a good fix, but it involves opening it, and I don't want to risk ruining my 3DS. A friend recommended that I can get a Circle Pad Pro for it to solve that, but I don't want to buy a peripheral if it'll only work for select games. In short, do the (effectively replacement) triggers in the Circle Pad Pro work for all games?

Also, for anyone with a New 3DS, does that particular model get affected by this stupid defect?

I haven't owned a Nintendo handheld since the GBA however when my Wii U borked even out of warranty they replaced it free of charge (though the consumer protection laws over here are pretty crazy so there's that). The new 3DS has been out less than a year - I'd imagine they'd fix it for you.

Thing is, it's not the new one I have, mind is a regular one I got in a bundle with Mario Kart 7.

Well I'm a doofus. I watched a trigger replacement walkthrough and it looks pretty simple with little chance of fuckup (the only ribbon cables you have a chance of pulling on are getting replaced anyway and nothing else on the board need be touched). I'd recommend just going through with it. In the video I watched they used a pocket knife to pop open the case and pop up the ribbon connection...that I don't recommend. You should always use some sort of plastic pick/pry tool so you don't scratch anything.
