Really, the original Myst? Why not REAL Myst (the free-movement one) or Riven? At least those titles would probably get more hits.
I'm wondering that too. Surely of the people who are still obsessed enough with Myst to want it rereleased yet again, more are going to consider the stereoscopic 3D a deal breaker than the full motion. And of the people who have never heard of it before, far, FAR more are going to want a modern first-person game than an interactive slide show presentation. And it's not like the 3DS can't handle a straight port of ReaMyst, what with its better-than-Gamecube graphics and all.

Unless they have something truly massive in the works. Which I doubt. I'd kill to see another adventure game done with current-gen hardware in mind, and especially one made by Cyan. I really doubt they'd make a return to the Myst franchise after all this time, but still.
They have said that they're considering doing a game to tie into the Book of Ti'ana movie in some way, though no one really knows what it would be.
Is that still floating around? The last time I heard about someone in Hollywood being interested in Myst, I think the Twin Towers still stood. If The Book of Ti'ana's really been optioned for a screenplay, it's taking way too long. There's no mention of any ongoing movie deals anywhere, as far as I can see.

Yeah - Riven not being on the platform seems like a myst opportunity - especially as both are freely available on iOS (and possibly Android). Just release an anthology of the first two or three and have done with it!

There's a project officially in the works, amazingly enough a small group of indie filmmakers actually got the rights optioned from Cyan themselves. Recently producers Mark Johnson (Chronicles of Narnia) and Hunt Lowry (Donnie Darko) signed on, and apparently they've had a lot of interest from studios and may have even struck a deal with someone already.

The two main guys behind the project have got a production blog they've been running for a few years here: mystmovie.com

Hasn't been updated in a while, but a lot of the last few updates were saying that things were starting to happen that they weren't allowed to talk about yet. Sounds like good news to me.

Awesome news!
Well, let's hope things do keep progressing, as this would be incredibly cool. My one concern is whether or not the Myst franchise can capture the interest of folks who wouldn't have played one or more games from the series. TBoT'a has a few decent action sequences near the end and some well-crafted political intrigue, but I don't know how non-fans could receive that.
