Just wondering if really this was a good idea for gaming companies to be releasing so many so consistently.

Four hack and slash games within a few months, DI, Bayo, DS, and GoW3, GoW3 having the most chance of succeeding out of all of them.

I mean last year when we had just two super hero sandboxes games come out players went nuts starting fan wars against each other.

Plus DI releasing on the same day as Bio2....errr=/

lol...imagine if four major mainstream shooter titles had come out all at once....Halo:reach, MW2, BC2, MoH....0o

They are just trying to syphon off some of GoW3s fame. But who cares, Darksiders is apparently a decent game so that is all I care about.
Yeah, usually new titles are scared shitless of even having the idea.

Meh, it happens sometimes... Companies can't tell when each title is going to be released afterall, and trying to delay it to avoid the competition can end up with the company receiving bad press and complaints.

Well it is better than delaying them so I'm going to say yes but I personally am not interested on buying any of them but renting them sure why not?!

Aaahhh...

Anyway, I personally don't see the problem. Competition leads to competitors to improve their games so they may be viewed as the best. I'm more concerned about how many games are being released in two months. Although I may be more saddened than concerned because I don't want to use up over £200 on games in two months.

To me it shows a fear in the face of trying something new, a fear of risk taking, a lack of viriety. To them, it's just good safe business sence, untill the eventually end up beating a dead horse with it's own leg, like LucasArts.

Actually what they're doing is setting themselves up for bad business.

The more games come out during a certain time frame with the same genres....the more division there will be amongst customers over who buys what game.

It's like setting up two coffee shops on the same block...one's a new franchise and the other is starbucks...starbucks = GoW3

Sounds like the video game, film, TV and music industry. Safe, but not breaking much ground.

WE know that, but the publishers refuse to accept it. If only all developers could just afford to self-produce.

Guh...I'd hate to think that video games will ever sink as low as movies, TV, & music. Imagine, Reality Games, games directed by Micheal Bay, music games with shitty untalented pop music...

Hmmm...I guess if you really enjoy that genre it is actually a good thing since you have more choices available that you are likely to want. But it is really important to do some research when you have a glut so you can get one that is really good instead of a poor knock-off.

I know I like fantasy RPG's and having Oblivion, Fable 2, and Zelda all out there around the same time made me pretty happy. Now I'm waiting on Thief 4 and praying for Eternal Darkness 2. <3 those!

Does it actually count as a game?

You sing into a microphone to try to keep the pitch the same as what the game is telling you sing at.

I'd say it qualifies as a game.

Ah, now I thought DS might have meant Demon's Souls which was released a little while back, you had me confussled.

OT: The reason could likely be to tie-in/cash-in with the GoW3 fever

Just like Painkiller and Serious Sam is a take-home paint-ball kit.

]Zelda is NOT an RPG.
No? "The gameplay consists of a mixture of action, adventure, puzzle solving, and role-playing." -"Legend of Zelda" on Wikipedia

If you actually play the first one you will find it is very similar to Final Fantasy 1 and Phantasy Star 1. I admit, it may have changed how much focus it placed on the RPG elements over time, but it was one of the games that helped define the genre originally. :)
