Meet the (Actual) StarCraft II System Requirements

If you want to play StarCraft II [http://www.amazon.com/Starcraft-II-Wings-Liberty-Pc/dp/B000ZKA0J6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1278964580&sr=1-1], here's what your computer is going to have to have under the hood.

Last month [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/97882-Dont-Meet-the-StarCraft-II-System-Requirements-UPDATE], someone at Blizzard accidentally published system requirements for the upcoming StarCraft II beta that were, when you thought about it, impossibly low for a modern RTS.

Well, now we have a whole new all the information [http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&articleId=26242&parentCategoryId&pageNumber=1&categoryId=3633] swirling around the impending release of the beta, it seems like the odds are in favor of these being legit.

There aren't any "Recommended" specs that I can see, but if you want to run the StarCraft II beta (and presumably the full game) at the minimum, here's what you'll need:

[blockquote]PC Minimum Requirements:
? Windows XP SP3/Vista SP1/Windows 7
? 2.2 Ghz Pentium IV or equivalent AMD Athlon processor
? 1 GB system RAM/1.5 GB for Vista and Windows 7
? 128 MB NVidia GeForce 6600 GT/ATI Radeon 9800 PRO video card
? 1024x768 minimum display resolution
? 4 GB free hard space (Beta)
? Broadband connection

*Note* the final requirements for StarCraft II have not yet been determined. Due to ongoing development the minimum requirements listed above are subject to change at any time. During this phase a Mac version will NOT be available, please check back.
[/blockquote]

Not quite as "holy crap those are low" as the previously leaked ones, but those are still pretty damn reasonable, don't you think?

You know, for spending about 50% of my life on the computer, my first thoughts shouldn't have been "What is this I don't even" when I looked at the requirements...
Well, this is a fairly recent laptop, so it should work.

This is pretty much any computer sold in the past 5 years. A netbook could almost run this at absolute minimum :p

Cools, I can run! I need to play Star Craft before I decide on this, though I'm only gonna play it for the SP.

The only thing on my laptop not above minimum is the graphics card, it's at minimum so it should be okay.

Let's see: *tick*, *tick*, *tick*, *tick*, *tick*.

Looks like I've got the minimum more than addressed. Would be interested in the recommended.

It'll probably run smoother than Supreme Commander, at any rate. That game just about needs a supercomputer to play on the largest maps with all the players.

And another victory for the Windows crowd. ALL HAIL LORD GATES!

Anyways, even this shitty computer I'm using to post this could run off those requirements. That said, I still want a new one.

Those are the minimum requirements, we have no word on the recommended yet.
Yeah, but my computer blows those out of the water, while still being fairly old and outdated.
I'll be fine.

Playing games with the minimum required specs doesn't actually mean it's playable, just means it will run with about 10fps.

It's starcraft. part of what made the first so great was the fact that you could play it on anything. Why stop that now? They made it a little prettier and what not, but over all it's much the same thing with better AI and updated units.
