You missed an important point in the review:Playbahnosh said:'scuse me, but there is already an awesome web-based space strategy game on the intertubes, that is played by many thousand people, it's called OGame. The premise is the same, you build your colonies, you research, you build fleets and send them to war.
Playing among tousands is a tedious exercise in persistence. What makes the game different, though, is that unlike most browser-based strategy games of this type it doesn't boast thousands of simultaneous players in the same game - the free games are set at 8 players.
Perhaps, but it does has it's charm. Playing with only 7 other people online seems like a waste though, when you can play with many thousands at the same time, but I think I see your point. You don't have to divide your attention so much and you can concentrate on the strategy more. But a turn does take a day even for a 8 people game, and that doesn't seem like a good idea.Halceon said:Playing among tousands is a tedious exercise in persistence.
Ikariam was made by same company that made Ogame, the name is Gameforge. They also made BiteFight, CABAL, Metin and a lot of other popular browser games. In fact, they made Ikariam well after OGame, and the former is more or less based on the latter in many aspects. I think you should check it out, OGame is a fine browser strategy.Sgt. It has a much greater emphasis on materials tho, seeing as there are 4 resources, but you pretty much play for a few minutes each day and let the game work it's self.
I dunno. I'll probably want to have a month or 2 off of it. It is still somewhat buggy. I can't send cash if i have less than $25, the turns grow ever longer and it's just a draining experience in and of itself.scifidownbeat said:We should play together sometime!
