Ubisoft's Teen Actor Murder Simulator Due in June

Ubisoft's Bloody Good Time, a game about teen actors killing each other for fame, has been confirmed and is expected in early summer.

Before now, Bloody Good Time was spoken about in whispers, hushes, and rumors. financial report [http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/18/ubisofts-bloody-good-time-coming-to-pc-xbla-in-q2] (pdf), and given a first quarter release window.

There isn't much information available on Bloody Good Time yet, but what is available is pretty sweet. A short description on the game's temporary website [http://bloody-good-time.us.ubi.com/comingsoon.php] says: "Bloody Good Time is a game regrouping ambitious teen actors ready to kill for fame! Selected by a weird B-movie director looking for the best shot, they will do anything to get the lead role."

The description is two sentences of absolute greatness. If I'm interpreting it correctly, ex-teen actors are given a chance to get back into the limelight by murdering things. Will they be murdering each other in order to become the last person standing, or going on random killing sprees? What is this "weird B-movie" that they would do anything to get the lead role in? Could it be the remake of Teen Wolf [http://www.amazon.com/Teen-Wolf-Too/dp/B000068TPB/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1276709325&sr=8-1]?

The financial report lists Bloody Good Time as a PC and Xbox Live Arcade title scheduled for release between April and June of 2010. Seeing as how today is May 19 that would put Bloody Good Time in gamers' hands in a little over a month at the latest. This would mean that Ubisoft should be revealing what the game actually is pretty soon. I'm thinking it'll be a top-down action-shooter in the vein of something like Smash TV [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smash_TV], but I never count my chickens before they hatch.

A PC release as well you say?

Coming soon from Ubisoft DRM dpt.: Multirom! You must have 2 phsyical discs in the drive at any given time to keep the game running. They must be stacked up, and for added safety, one must be inverted over the other. Also you must voodoo chant before a microphone to activate your copy of the game, each and every time you wish to play. The chant is randomly generated each time to a heavily encrypted and monthly updated algorithm, and the servers to which you must always be connected will not transmit data until every syllable has been uttered. If at any time 1 of the 2 discs stops rotating, the game will uninstall itself, along with any other Ubisoft game located in the registry of you and anyone on your homegroup.

Good premise for a game, but the public's outcry over Ubisoft DRM will make the PC version a tough sell, to say the least.

I think it is supposedly to be a game similar to the "The Ship".

Did I just go in the Wayback Machine and it is now April Fool's Day again?

-checks the date-

No.

So now we have Ubisoft not only pissing on its PC customerbase with the DRM, but now trolling for response from the Religious Right and everybody else that they can.
Frankly I don't care a whooptedoo what the RR and all them say. I do play GTA and such. But there really is absolutely NOTHING in this to inspire me to even try a demo. Whoever is smoking the good stuff at Ubisoft that came up with this? Share that instead. You'll make more.
Edit from the Wayforward machine: No DRM on this and it looks fun. I demand a review!

Ah, man. Corey Haim? Really? Too soon...

...on that note, it would be the coolest thing ever if Corey Haim came back and killed Corey Feldman so that we never have to hear anything about the lost boys again.

Big deal. It's from Ubisoft. Therefore automatically thrown onto "fuck you, I'm not dealing with your DRM" pile.

Sounds like it could be fun.

But I still boycott Ubisoft, so I'm not getting it.
