Kind of easy. [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin] Just post your top 5 favorite bands/artist, and your favorite song by said artist. Genre and lyrics optional.

The Tempest

Saw you the other day
Looking so undermined
Acting like it wouldn't happen
Making sense of anything that you could find
Because it's just about to happen
And you'll be there
You must have known the storm was coming
When the clouds appeared

May as well let the rain come down
And join the circus of people
While you're there

Something is changing
Bruising and aching
And I'm trying
To find out
What it is
When I fix her
She's breaking
Reason keeps escaping
We're protecting
And burning like a cyst

I know that
I can help you
I just don't fucking want to
And the feeling
Is stronger by the day
Say that
I'm selfish
But I know you need this
And I'm just so
Sick of the chase

While you are letting your guard down
I will be letting myself go
While you keep running your ship aground
I will be setting myself alight

Too late, you dropped the drawbridge
You let the vampires in
You caused this shit to happen and now you want out?

Too late, you dropped the drawbridge
You let the vampires in
I hope you know now that it's nobodies fault but yours!

While you are letting your guard down
I will be letting myself go
While you keep running your ship aground
I will be setting myself alight

The Price of a Mile

Throw your soldiers into positions once there is no escape, and they will prefer death to flight.

Hear the sound of the machine gun
Hear it echo in the night
Mortars firing, rains the scene
Scars the fields that once were green
It's a stalemate at the front line
Where the soldiers rest in mud
Roads and houses, all is gone
There's no glory to be won

Know that many men will suffer
know that many men will die
Half a million lives at stake
At the fields of Passchendaele
And as night falls the general calls
And the battle carries on
And on
What is the purpose of it all
What's the price of a mile

CHORUS:
Thousands of feet march to the beat
It's an army on the march
Long way from home
Paying the price in young mens lives
Thousands of feet march to the beat
It's an army in despair
Knee-deep in mud
Stuck in the trench with no way out

Thousands of machine guns
Kept on firing through the night
Mortars placed and wreck the scene
Guns the fields that once were green
Still a deadlock at the front line
Where the soldiers die in mud
Roads and houses since long gone
Still no glory has been won

Know that many men has suffered
Know that many men has died
Six miles of ground has been won
Half a million men are gone
And as the men crawled the general called
And the killing carried on
And on
What was the purpose of it all
What's the price of a mile

Thousands of feet march to the beat
It's an army on the march
Long way from home
Paying the price in young mens lives
Thousands of feat march to the beat
It's an army in despair
Knee-deep in mud
Stuck in the trench with no way out

Young men are dying
They pay the price
Oh how they suffer
So tell me what's the price of a mile

That's the price of a mile!

Thousands of feet march to the beat
It's an army on the march
Long way from home
Paying the price in young mens lives
Thousands of feat march to the beat
It's an army in despair
Knee-deep in mud
Stuck in the trench with no way out

Thousands of feet march to the beat
It's an army on the march
Long way from home
Paying the price in young mens lives
Thousands of feat march to the beat
It's an army in despair
Knee-deep in mud
Stuck in the trench with no way out

Thousands of feet march to the beat
It's an army on the march
Long way from home
Paying the price in young mens lives
Thousands of feat march to the beat
It's an army in despair
Knee-deep in mud
Stuck in the trench with no way out

Thousands of feet march to the beat
It's an army on the march
Long way from home
Paying the price in young mens lives
Thousands of feat march to the beat
It's an army in despair
Knee-deep in mud
Stuck in the trench with no way out

Coming Home

Lost in the dark milleniums ago
Where is the place where's the place called home

On fire they rode to flee from the fall
Their future was doomed they've foreseen it all

Mythical world of the ancient empire
secret and hidden but some day we shall return

Ancient calls from anywhere in time
we have to follow the sign
Distant voices - sources unknown
Where to they lead us
Where will we go
On the scent for the lost Coming home

Chasing a shadow in stardust and haze
Where will we find traces of our race

The engines are roaring we're
leaving ground once more
is it for real - will we fail
like so often before

Ancient calls from somewhere in time
we have to follow the sign
Distant voices - sources unknown
Where to they lead us
Where will we go
On the scent for the lost
Coming home

Mythical world of the ancient empire
is it for real - will we fail
like so often before

Ancient calls from somewhere

Star of the old guide us - give us hope
Star...

You do your thing

Put me on a mountain, way back in the backwoods
Put me on a lake with biggin on the line
Put me 'round a campfire cookin' something I just cleaned
You do your thing, I'll do mine

I ain't tradin' in my family's safety
Just to save a little gas
And I'll pray to God any place, any time
And you can bet I'll pick up the phone if Uncle Sam calls me up
You do your thing, I'll do mine

Hey, I'll worry about me
You just worry about you
And I'll believe what I believe
And you can believe what you believe too

I ain't gonna spare the rod
Cuz that ain't what my daddy did
And I sure know the difference between wrong and right
You know, to me it's all just common sense
A broken rule, a consequence
You do your thing, I'll do mine

Hey, I'll worry about me
You just worry about you
And I'll believe what I believe
And you can believe what you believe too

I'm gonna keep on working hard
Make my money the old-fashioned way
I don't wanna piece of nobody else's pie
If I don't get my fill on life I ain't gonna blame no one but me
You do your thing, I'll do mine

You ain't gonna be my judge
Cuz my judge will judge us all one day
You do your thing, I'll do mine

Song of the South

Song, song of the south
Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth
Gone, gone with the wind
There ain't nobody looking back again

Cotton on the roadside, cotton in the ditch
We all picked the cotton but we never got rich
Daddy was a veteran, a southern democrat
They oughta get a rich man to vote like that

Sing it...

Song, song of the south
Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth
Gone, gone with the wind
There ain't nobody looking back again

Well somebody told us Wall Street fell
But we were so poor that we couldn't tell
Cotton was short and the weeds were tall
But Mr. Roosevelt's a gonna save us all

Well momma got sick and daddy got down
The county got the farm and they moved to town
Pappa got a job with the TVA
He bought a washing machine and then a Chevrolet

Sing it...

Song, song of the south
Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth
Gone, gone with the wind
There ain't nobody looking back again

Play it...

Sing it...

Song, song of the south
Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth
Gone, gone with the wind
There ain't nobody looking back again

Song, song of the south...

Gone, gone with the wind...

Song, song of the south.
Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth.
Song, song of the south.
Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth.

Sing it...

Song, song of the south
Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth
Gone, gone with the wind
There ain't nobody looking back again

Song, song of the south
Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth
Gone, gone with the wind
There ain't nobody looking back again

I'll bite but I can't choose favourite songs for some so I'll give you an album.
1. Kasabian - Doberman Genre: Alt Rock/ Techno-ish(Second half of first album Kasabian)

2. Feeder - Yesterday Went Too Soon(Album) bu if I have to choose I'll go with the song Yesterday Went Too Soon. Genre: Alt Rock/Pop Metal(Apparently)

3. Pixies - Hey Genre: Alt Rock

4. Stone Roses - Stone Roses(Album) Genre: Indie/Alt Rock

5. Bloc Party - Helcopter Genre: Indie/Alt Rock

On a side note a need some new material. Been listening to R.E.M lately the before they were cool(arena cool) albums. Murmur seems like a ***** to get a hold of in the UK without forking out more than £10.

My favorite band is easy, it's Iron Maiden. Favorite song by them I can't pick just one. A few are The man who would be king, The Prisoner, Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, and When the Wild Wind Blows.
<spoiler=Iron Maiden>That one happens to be up.

Other favorite bands are.

Megadeath- song by them Peace sells.

AC/DC- It's a long way to the top.

Ozzy/ Black Sabbath- Iron man.

And I guess Rammstein- Feuer Frei!

Also #2 and #3 remind me of songs that Iron Maiden did.

Heh it always bothers me when someone calls the Offspring Punk... they're certainly a damned good band but their closer to pop punk or alternative than anything else...<.<

Real Punk is frightening and foreign and something most people would be unable to recognize...

Not to say I don't have my favorites...
The Cat Empire,
Also when I read this band name it automatically reminded me of that song by big Black... off of Songs About Fucking...<.<

Have you heard the new Offspring song? Now that's true punk.

We really need to indicate some way to indicate sarcasm in written form.

I'd be reluctant to call anything "real punk" - besides, look at the bands that spearheaded Punk Rock: The Sex Pistols, The Damned, The Ramones, The Clash, Buzzcocks; all of these bands were essentially just selling hooky rock music while having an attitude about it.

The bands you listed were all part of the 80's wave of hardcore punk acts, and their sound reflects it. However, claiming groups like Black Flag, Deep Wound, or the Dead Kennedys are indicative of "real punk" seems fallacious. In a way, the kind of "punk" the Offspring offers is just a cleaner-sounding version of the stuff which emerged in the 70's. Granted, as time has gone on, they have become decidedly more mainstream and poppy (and are well-deserving of the pop-punk moniker), but the stuff they released in the early 90's has a distinctly 'classic' punk sound, in my opinion.

That's... that's ... is that a joke? you know... like the "pop" song they released to please the record label or something? God I hope that's what it is... if it's not... that's just sad... they weren't even my favorite band... but that's depressing...

must cleanse ears...

Ah... that's better...

I have no idea. I mean, I'm not a huge Offspring fan, but I do like a lot of their stuff. And that latest song, I still can't make it all the way through. I really tried but it is just fucking awful.

Good choice of ear cleanser.
