Alright so recently i've been thinking. A new and bold concept to some i know.

Anyways, i thought about the 5 second rule and i was wondering... why 5 seconds? I mean are germs picky about what they touch? "Oh bullocks this piece of meat has intruded on my personal space, i'm gonna give it 5 seconds to move or else i attack it!" Apparently germs are very polite.

But why even have a "second rule"

"A Navy and Marine officer are eating lunch together, and the marine goes to the restroom and comes back out without washing his hands.

The Navy officer said 'You know we're taught in the navy to wash our hands!'

The Marine officer replies with 'Oh yeah? In the Marines we're taught not to piss on our hands'"

That joke says, DON'T DROP YOUR FOOD

Seriously, it doesn't matter how long it's been on the ground, half second or 5 seconds, you'll pick up the same amount of bacteria.
(I thank Mythbusters for this one.)

Someone needs a good dose of Adam Savage ... Mythbusters busted the 5 second rule completely.

Five second rule is a rationalization. It is a reason we give ourselves (no matter how wrong) that makes ourselves feel better about an action.
