I mean, come on, a book with kinky perverse sex.....there's tons of them!
This is the only book series with "kinky fuckery". (No, seriously, they actually use that term at one point)

But the first book doesn't really get any farther then 'he ties her hands together before banging her' level of kink.

Oh, and at the end of the first book, he whips her with his belt a few times. And she GTFO's.

Then gets right back together with him in the first half of the first chapter of book two. (About 7 in-universe days)
That is it? I was thinking they were doing some really kinky junk based on comments here. A little bondage on the hands is barely anything. Tieing up hands and bit of spanking etc is more like spicing things up rather than actual BDSM.

It's not porn but a lot of middle aged women are gobbling it up.
It's talk of our office, the bus stop and even my mother picked it up! It's not too bad - if you have the Internet you can read a lot worse. It's written like Twilight, very simple and pandering for its audience.

Nothing special.
well it actually started out as an online Twilight fan fic but she changed Edward Cullen to whats-his-face Grey and left her author self insert fan fiction persona alone and took out the vampire stuff and found a way to make money off of her personal masturbation material

Grey is actually nothing like the twilight man. hes more to the point always in control, I own this room and everything in it kind of attractive. not in edwards tortured vamp veggie kind of romanticism.

lmao

Also Im straight but I can see the appeal.

Praising 50 Shades for it's story rather than the sex is like saying you play Gears of War for the "emotional investment". Everybody knows that you're just liking it for the chest-high walls and saying that you're not is just making you look pathetic.

My mum said it was boring as shit, in fact I can here her on the phone right now talking about how shit it is. She said she got to the point where some woman says "and he swept me up in his manly arms" and she closed the book. No good characters or anything.

Why can't we have a good BDSM book? One that actually represents it well?

Nooo, we have to get this crap and get told BDSM stems from emotional trauma.

Guys like me have had our sexual interests pandered to for years. And that's fine. I'm sure ive gotten some enjoyment out of trash because there were tits in it and that's just human nature. Twilight wasn't bad because it was sub literate, it was bad because it portrayed the identifiable woman as an inferior, desireable object in a abusive yet acceptable relationship where her only real value was her virginity. That was fucked up. All the bad writting and sparkles was just funny to nitpick. 50 Shades, based on what ive heard, is just mindless sexualization. Its more explicit then the male equivilent because its words and abstract instead of equally suggestive pictures. Still puts equally dirty thoughts in your head though. And you know what? Good. Women deserve fun mindless sexual content too. I will keep it as far away from me as possible because for me sexualized guys are gross, but I'm glad the playing field has been leveled a bit.

It really baffles me that this has become a thing. Why is everyone so interested in making fun of this book? There's a million other weird, badly written porn novels out there, why are we paying special attention to this one? Yeah it's adapted from a Twilight fanfic, but why is that a reason to talk about it? And just think about what we're all doing. We're giving a significant amount of attention to a Twilight slashfic. Does that not just make you want to kill yourself?
It's because it's currently a bestseller, and there's so much praise for it from bored housewives. If nobody cared about it, there wouldn't be people making fun of it.

And, really, killing yourself for talking about how bad something popular is?
Oh god, I had no idea it was actually popular. Now that makes me want to kill myself.
It's not just popular.

It's the fastest selling book EVER. It's selling more copies in a week than any other book ever has.

There's an approximated 31 million sales so far.

That may sound amazing, but remember that the global porn industry pulls in around 100 billion dollars a year.

And just like porn those experiencing it for the very first time are highly enthusiastic about it.

This is just porn in book-format. And it's behaving just like porn. It's selling insane amounts.

Sex is like most things.

When engaged in rationally and responsibly it's a good thing.

When engaged in too much without limits it's a bad thing.

Nothing wrong with enjoying this sort of book, within limits. But one should realize that the relations depicted are not a reflection of reality and are not intended to be (I hope). It does feature a relationship that's decidedly unhealthy for both participants (not because of the BDSM, because of the stalking and all the other shit).

Just like there's nothing wrong with enjoying porn, within limits. But one should realize that it's not an accurate depiction of reality and is not intended to be. It does feature actions that one should not try at home.

I'm afraid to read it because I feel like I'll get a bit annoyed by how BDSM is portrayed to be honest. From what I have read it's a pretty false viewpoint....

All I know is that at the end of NCritic's "Baby Geniuses 2" review, he and a bunch of other guys read a part of it about the girl getting her clitoris smacked in Nicolas Cage voice.

That's about all I think I need to know.

how long did it tak you to find an image of a mummy presenting itself like that.
Yeah I figured that's what he meant, just making a joke.

And honestly, it took like 2 minutes which was surprising to me, I just Google image'd "mummy" and it was in the top row
