500 dollar laptop

Okay, so here is my case, my grandma is going to buy me a laptop, she says shes willing to spend around 500 dollars on it. What is the best thing I can get for around 500 dollars at a bestbuy? A good gaming computer would be nice.

First off, don't try and get a "gaming" laptop, specially not for 500 dollars. Second, you could buy a decent gaming desktop (which can be upgraded gradually) for 500 dollars.

Look, gaming laptops are never a good idea. I dont understand why people are so wanting of them. Unless you want to spend over a grand for some over glorified alien ware thing, you're really shit out of luck.

Gaming laptops work fine as long as you're willing to go for last generation games.

Just get yourself something like the HP Mini 311. It's an Ion based netbook and while it's not a killer game system by any stretch of the imagination, it will play older games and it'll actually be useful for portability.

IMO you aren't going to get much that packs a punch for $500. However, you can get some pretty sexy netbooks for that much.

I have a laptop which I use exclusively for gaming and runs all of my games perfectly. It cost me just over £500 so I'm not sure were you get your figures from. According to the currency converter 500.00 GBP = 797.375 USD so it is mine was well under a grand.

Ranger is right there isn't going to be a laptop for 500 bucks that's going to do what you want it to. But if you get one imo get the best hp you can. I have had mine for 3 yrs & it does well enough for my Secondlife & misc mmo's but I don't ask it to do alot of gaming.
