Second Time the Charm for Ghost Rider Movie?

Columbia is revving up to bring Ghost Rider [http://www.amazon.com/Ghost-Rider-Widescreen-Nicolas-Cage/dp/B000OVLBF8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1276768144&sr=8-1 ] back to the silver screen.

Talks are taking place with director team Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, and actor Nicholas Cage for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, a sequel to the 2007 movie, which starred Cage as the titular Ghost Rider, a demonic spirit of retribution and vengeance. Neveldine and Taylor have directed both Crank movies and Gamer, as well as writing the screenplay for Jonah Hex.

The first Ghost Rider movie made nearly $230 million worldwide, despite fairly poor reviews. Columbia only had a limited window in which to start work on a sequel before the rights reverted back to Marvel. Spirit of Vengeance's script was written by David Goyer, who also wrote The Dark Knight, and the studio hopes to start shooting by late fall.

-Deleted because I don't care much about Ghost Rider, yet someone went on my account and pretended to be me, posting about it. Sorry!-

I'm looking forward to this, I guess.

To be brutally honest, I had no problems with Cage's performance in Ghost Rider. Sure, he might be far from the greatest actor of our day, but for being so bad he's sure been in a lot of high-grossing films.

So we get a director who did a bunch of crappy films, and a good script-writer?
This'll be interesting.

Nick Cage is OK, but he needs the right roles...and I'm not sure Ghost Rider is the right role for Mr. Cage.

Haven't seen Ghost Rider, but Nicholas Cage is, imho, not a bad actor. He's a little strange perhaps, and does it best as slighty mad characters. Or hopeless ones. He did a fantastic performance in Leaving Las Vegas for example. And he played damn well in the Rock, not to mentioned his possibly best performance to date: Lord of War.

I love Ghost Rider as a character but the movie was kind of forgetable, i loved the reference to MK's Scorpion though.

..Please, no?

Cage is an.. alright actor, including movies such as Lord of War (Which was awesome, btw), and to lows such as The Knowing (Dont even get me started on what was pathetically wrong with that movie).

But Ghost Rider was a horrible movie, I don't care how much money it made. They'd have to do quite alot with the story to ever make me want to go see it again.

Get rid of Cage and replace him with Jensen Ackles. He would make a great Ghost Rider.

I didn't find the first movie all that bad.

Sure, the plot is down-to-Earth retarded, but that's a superhero movie so it's okay.

I need to think really hard to remember the first film... so I guess it wasn't too impressive to me.
I should probably watch it again, especially with a sequel coming.

which starred Cage as the titular Ghost Rider
Titular means "in title only"; you probably meant eponymous.

I learn something new everyday...

OT: The first wasn't all bad. I enjoyed it more than most, though.

New Ghost Rider movie!?!

*Squeals like a 4 year old*

*Ahem*

Sorry about that. I love Ghost Rider. I have the Extended Cut of the first movie. And the video game (no it is not that bad. Not as good as God of War, which the style reminds me of, but anyway. Picture God of War with motorcycle sections. That's the Ghost Rider game)

Hey, since when is Nicholas Cage a bad actor? Sure, he made a few poor choices in his roles, but he's far from a bad actor.

Ever seen Adaptation? Lord Of War? Hell, he did great in Kick Ass too. The Ghost Rider movie was just warped and terribly paced in general, no actor would've saved it.
I agree with that, Cage is in my Top 5 quite easily. He's brilliant, he's one of the few actors I've seen that can do goofy funny, dramatic and badass and be convincing about it.

Unfortunately no amount of good acting can save a badly written movie peppered with dated puns and cheesy banter.

That being said, tacky as it was, I quite enjoyed the first one and found myself giving the odd squee or two when he first became Ghost Rider, then when he got the spiky jacket.

.... yeah ;o)

Nick Cage is a fucking horrible actor, Keanu Reeves has more depth and that's not meant as a compliment. He is the #1 reason I will not watch the first Ghost Rider nor many of his other movies.

I enjoyed ghost rider, I enjoy Nick Cage. Guess I'll look forward to this movie as well.

Also, the Devil was an excellently played role imho.

I didn't really enjoy Ghost Rider, but there wasn't nothing really wrong with it. I felt that juts when it got interesting, it was over. Still, Goyer can probably do something awesome with it. Then again, he made "The Unborn," and that was scary for all the wrong reasons.

Well the 1st movie was pretty good. But yes it was lacking...alot :D
On the other hand script by the guy who wrote The Dark Knight...that is hard to ignore. It sounds promising. But the crank directors...they totally screwed up with Crank 2 so im kinda worried there!
