Funny Coincidence: Tim Schafer Making Antiques Roadshow?

Could it be a coincidence that Namco is working on an Antiques Roadshow game and Tim Schafer joked that he was as well?

Antiques Roadshow is a television show on which antiques appraisers travel to various regions to tell people what their random possessions are worth. Tim Schafer may be developing a game around this concept. You'd think such an occurrence would be impossible, but random tidbits have popped up creating a slim and mind-boggling possibility.

Tim Schafer revealed that Double Fine had four titles in development with multiple publishers back in July. We know that two of those are coming from THQ, with one being the just announced Costume Quest [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/102707-Double-Fine-Unveils-Trick-or-Treat-RPG-Costume-Quest]. The other two games are still unannounced, as are their publisher(s).

When MTV Multiplayer [http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2010/08/13/tim-schafers-antique-roadshow-game-is-coming/] quizzed Schafer about these unannounced titles, he said: "Yeah, lemme tell you all about them! One's about these ice worms that live in Antarctica. That's a first-person shooter. And then there's an Antiques Roadshow game that we're doing, all using the Wii-mote. No, I'm sorry, I can't tell you about those games."

You might say that there's zero possibility of a studio like Double Fine creating a game that is probably being developed to cash-in on a popular television show property, but then I didn't expect Double Fine to develop a trick-or-treating RPG either.

At the least, this is a funny coincidence. At the most, it'll be... man, who knows what kind of game could be associated with Antiques Roadshow coming out of Double Fine. I don't know whether to be excited about a possible new Double Fine game or to be completely and utterly confused. I want to stress that I really, really don't think this is happening, and Antiques Roadshow will probably end up as a hidden object game, but it's humorous nonetheless.

Yeah you could say that... only I wouldn't call the Antiques Roadshow a "popular television property." Perhaps it is for a certain audience, but I doubt that audience is gamers!

I wonder how it would work. Would you be the appraiser or the appraisee? Could be an Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider type game where you have to find the artifacts.

While I enjoy Antiques Roadshow, I don't see how they could make a game of it. A Tim Schafer version would definitely be "interesting"

I know that games are now trying to target every age group. Take for example:

Xbox/PS3 targeting the ages between 13-30
The Wii is targeting younger ages as well as family members such as mothers and fathers.

They have games that show this for example:

Xbox/PS3 have MW2
Wii has Mario

So what is this trying to target. The old aged. I actually almost want to see this.
