I dont know, I guess its just me being foreign and not living in Sweden, so not living in its system. I would like to ask the Swedish Escapists if this is how Sweden actually works, because if so, I truly weep for your country.

Honestly, our schools just can't handle bullying. We have a bunch of different programs against bullying but they don't work. "But", you might say, "why don't you change the programs or create new ones that actually work?" Because, silly, what if we create new ones that does work? Then we'll have nothing but happy kids who are friends with eachother and don't stab others in the neck. The horror!

Seriously, I'm not sure the bullying here is any worse than in any other country (but there have been some extremely sick cases of it if anyone wants to hear), but the ones who should stop it can't seem to figure out how. By God, usually they transfer the ones who get bullied to other schools, not the bullies. Yeah, that's a fair solution...

OK, politics time. You're making the usual American mistake when talking about Europe. We have a single border around the perimeter of the EU, we share some laws and we have numerous agreements to facilitate easy trade. We are not the same country. The difference would be roughly like saying that the US, Canada and Mexico are all one entity.

Not that I agree with the school's stance, but if you like something that you know people get bullied for, and you do/wear that thing...you're doing it to yourself.

Well, there are several thing I want to note,
1) The boy likes pink, so what? the school is being pretty stupid about a color...
2) We are talking about 6 year olds here, their too immature and ignorant to know not to bully him.
3) if a 6 year old is evil enough to stab another person, well, that person (the stabber) needs harsh punishment now, if the law or school go easy on him now, expect a future killer out of him.
4)There are plenty of ways he can get around wearing pink like for example, wear a pink shirt but a (insert fitting color here) sweater over it.
5) Life sucks like that, bullies should NEVER and I mean NEVER be the person setting the rules, there are cases where it can result in the victim committing suicide.. Parents and officials should and HOPEFULLY do something reasonable

This guy has the best points in this thread. This SIX YEAR OLD stabbed a kid. I wouldn't show mercy and I'd give him the worst punishment possible. Also, anyone in school, sadly, has to be prepared to be bullied if they are different. The school shouldn't have just accepted this as fact, but it still is. If you're different, you will get bullied and in this case, stabbed. Parents shouldn't be restricted from letting their kids like things, but they should be realists to their kid and tell them that they will get bullied if they're different.

OK, politics time. You're making the usual American mistake when talking about Europe. We have a single border around the perimeter of the EU, we share some laws and we have numerous agreements to facilitate easy trade. We are not the same country. The difference would be roughly like saying that the US, Canada and Mexico are all one entity.

Until very recently there was a record of pitched warfare in Europe, that's only been stopped for some 65 years now. Many countries in Europe hold scorn and disdain for other countries. We have no singular Government, our countries do not operate as states and it's pure ignorance to state that an occurrence in one country reflects upon the others. Our population is 731 million and we are from countries with cultures and rivalries extending backwards for millennia.

Basically, each country is it's own country and if you try and lump them together you're going to make a lot of people very unhappy. I'm English so I don't much mind but there are a few nationalities that you could cause real offence to by mixing them up with another.

Now while I understand that Europe is not one country, the fact that I am mixed with all the other Americans, when we have so many cultures and ethnicity, is unjustified. Put a generic New Yorker, Southern, Texan, and Californian, which is only naming a few cultural groups, in one room and ask them if they like the same politicians(federal) or the same presidents, or even their favorite sports team, and you will have very different answers for each of them. Do I like being mixed with them, no, but I do think that if we are all the same in your eyes, then why not be just as bigoted as you in that respect.

Now I know you could pull the argument where in a lot European countries, like say the UK in the general British area of the land, or Germany, their are still cultural differences between difference parts of their country. A man from Liverpool could say he is different from a Local of London, but I could say a Italian from Queens(NYC) sounds different from a Irishman from Brooklyn. Small differences between different communities, while they may be cherished and note worthy, but I believe that these differences do not change the fact that you are still a part of that culture. Now all New Yorkers are difference, but we are still all New Yorkers, no mater where we originally come from. And a British man from Liverpool is still a Brit even if a local of London is still a British man.

Oh yeah, and I found that first comment "Usual American mistake" mildly annoy, good counter point. If you wanted to look as bad as a "Usual American" who "Usually" groups Europeans together, then you succeeded.
