Police Find Meth Lab Searching for Stolen Xbox

If you've got a meth lab running in the basement, don't steal your neighbor's Xbox.

It was just another ordinary September day in St. Augustine, Florida, until an unnamed 24-year-old man's Xbox was stolen. The investigation resulting from the theft led to the discovery of a methamphetamine lab next door.

The man, living at 19 Barcelona Ave., informed police that an Xbox and two controllers had been stolen from him by his neighbor and sold to a pawn shop. When police showed up at 20 Barcelona, where 36-year-old Wendy Marie Gibson resided, they found more than enough evidence to convict her, but not of Xbox theft.

Gibson had her hand in a totally different honey jar of crime and was also running a meth lab. When a deputy entered Gibson's home, he said he was hit with a "large white chemical cloud." A search found chemicals commonly used to make crank. Gibson was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession and use of narcotic equipment, possession of listed chemical for manufacture of a controlled substance, and grand theft.

Let this be a lesson to you, kids: Videogame theft is a gateway crime that only leads to deeper levels of corruption and delinquency. Sure, it might start with a Game Boy Advance game here and there, but pretty soon you're stealing Strawberry Shortcake: Sweet Dreams [http://www.amazon.com/Strawberry-Shortcake-Sweet-Dreams-Playstation-2/dp/B000BXFASS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1284176776&sr=8-1] from your 5-year-old niece just so you can buy another vial of horse tranquilizer. And once you're in deep enough, there's no choice but to start up a meth lab, which really isn't as fun as it sounds. It might be tempting to steal your neighbor's videogames and trade them in for cash, but it'll lead to nothing but jail, or meth, so don't do it.

Can't this like, not happen? I mean if the neighbor was smart she would have asked for a warrant then this wouldn't have happened. The way I understand it warrants give police permission to search a specified area for a specified thing. If the neighbor just said "sure, search my house" then this would fly and the neighbor would be an idiot.

Glad the lab was found and taken care of. Disgusting, honestly.

Also, did they get the Xbox back? I'm serious.

See? Video Games lead to finding Drugs!

Although it'd probably blame games for somehow 'convincing' the stealer to make drugs and steal an Xbox.

Crank? Is this a new drug I haven't heard of yet? Or a misspelling of 'crack'?

On topic: Excellent news. It's good to know that the police can catch a lucky break every now and then.

And the moral of the story is: When commiting crimes, don't commit unrelated crimes?

Well, I guess it's how they caught Capone but this spin on the wheel of morality is largely unsatisfying.

Neighbor is an idiot. Not only is meth bad for you but cooking your own is practically like running your own dynamite factory. She was putting herself and all her neighbors at risk.
There's nothing smart about this person and I highly doubt anything was out of order. If you don't want cops busting in your place legitimately, don't be running a meth lab.

i could be totally 100% wrong about this but i think..if a cop has any reason to suppose you have drugs, he has the right to search your house, kinda like searching a car for drugs....
