I think my general reaction to the Facebook movie would be 'I don't care.' I haven't been to see any movies since Toy Story 3, and this one will not be the one to change my mind. Simply put I don't like 'human dramas' because I tend to view 'realistic' fiction as the sort which is even more fantasy than Tolkein, and I hate Facebook.

I use it, don't get me wrong, but I think it's annoying and gimmicky and if there is a better option for keeping in touch (texts, calling people, e-mail, carrier pidgeon) I'll use that before I even log on to the Social Network. For me seeing this movie would be much like going to see the Justin Bieber flick, or a Lady Gage autobiography. I don't care, and it's likely to make me mad.

Plus, Trent Razor (he of Nine Inch Nails fame) contributed (quite a bit) to the soundtrack.

I'm now intrigued. Though while I don't mean to be pedantic:

The sort of things that Aeschylus would write about, that Shakespeare would write about, that a few years ago Paddy Chayevsky would write about.
Escalus is a character from Romeo & Juliet. Not a Greek tragedian.

A movie about Bookface?

Sorry, even if it was the best movie in the world, I wouldn't want to see it. Social Networking, in general, is poisonous and I would rather not fund any more views of this socially destructive urge.

Wait, Andrew Garfield was in The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus?

Darn it, I thought I recognized him from somewhere.

Either way, this piques my interest, mostly because of Jesse Eisenberg. Emma Stone already has her own very good vehicle for stuff, and I'd like to see Jesse Eisenberg also do really well in a movie where he plays the central character.

You're showing this to a community that probably doesn't have Facebook and won't be able to relate to the movie. However, the 500 million people who do have Facebook (myself included) will probably go see it.

Of course Microsoft believes the Kinect will sell better than everything else, it's their product... oh wait, wrong article.

Ya that still did absolutely nothing at all to convince me watching that movie isnt both a waste of my time and my life. It still just seems like a crappy movie about something I couldnt care less about.

Movie Bob doesn't usually make Intermission about the same topic as Escape to the Movies, so I may check this out.

But off topic: The new Wall Street has been out for a week now, and he hasn't even mentioned it that I've seen, even to say it's not worth mentioning. Oversight, or condemnation through silence, Bob?

I was going to see it already. Fincher gets a lifetime pass for making Seven, Fight Club and Zodiac, and he (in my opinion) has never made a bad movie.

I don't really get the people saying that they won't see it because it's about the creation of Facebook. I think of what Roger Ebert likes to say: "The movie isn't what it is about, it is how it is about it."

The movie is not about promoting Facebook; the story of Facebook is just the clay that the movie is made from, and a vehicle to tell a story and explore different themes. I don't use Facebook myself, and I don't view it necessarily as a positive thing; that doesn't mean it isn't great fodder to tell a story with.

I wouldn't believe the impressions you might get on internet forums or comment threads. The people who comment negatively about things (for example, about not using Facebook) are generally a vocal minority, because those that aren't don't generally feel the need to comment without a good reason.

25% of our recent users have Facebook linked to their accounts, while only half that have added Xbox Live handles, and 1/3 have added Steam accounts to their profiles. But nobody would think that having an Xbox Live account or Steam account would be a minority around here.

Why should i add my STEAM account to my profile? To show off my games list? Am i that much of an attention whore that i have to let everybody know what i'm playing at the moment? Surely not. Besides there is something called privacy and i like it very much.

On Topic:
I don't care about any social network in general and i despise Justin Timberlake(imo he is not a tripple threat - i've seen him in Black Snake Moan and he sucked monkey balls), which leads me to one question: How much screen time did the douche get?

I was incredibly wary at first. I was afraid it would be idolized the crap out of and give Facebook more unwarranted "moral high ground." Now I see it's not a shameless two hour (or whatever) ad for Facebook. It actually has depth, good acting, good filming, etc. It's the story on a personal level of how the phenom occurred and the price of success. I'll give it a shot.

Not to mention the people here who haven't linked their facebook accounts out of shear privacy or separation of their internet lives like me.

Impotent rage!!!

I used to hate the guy, too, but then he made "Dick in a Box" and hosted the ESPYs. The guy's funny, and is responsible for some of the only palatable SNL sketches in recent memory.

Oh, I also hated him less once I started getting laid on a regular basis, got my M.D., and started making six figures. When you're successful and have your libido satisfied, you have a lot less motivation to hate a genuinely talented person out of jealousy. I'm still not a huge fan of his music, but I'm able to appreciate that he has more talent than pretty much every person in the rest of the "pop" genre combined. I'll take him over Ke$ha or Lil Wayne pretty much any day.

As for the percentage of people on here who use facebook, I'll state from experience that the number of people who link their accounts isn't necessarily a hard indicator of the number of people who use both. I use facebook, and I use this site, but I will never link the two accounts. I don't lilnk accounts. The increased convenience isn't worth the "none of your freaking business" factor involved.
