7 Essential Films to Watch from the Coen Brothers

Oh there are more than i thought to see from them. And some that need a rewatch. Number 7 has been on my list for a while now, but keep on deciding against it at the last minute for some reason. The Coens are certainly a great influence that is difficult to describe merely from box blurbs, covers and synopsises. You have to see them for yourselves.
Man you misspelled Llewyn when the title was right there. Also, less egregious but still a typo, you called him 'Gabriel Bryne' rather than Byrne. How am I supposed to take your opinion on the Coen brothers' films seriously when you clearly haven't achieved total synchronicity with your machine spirit?

Fargo, The Big Lebowski, and No Country for Old Men are the best. All three are highly entertaining movies, for different reasons.
OK, I'm gonna make a point of watching every movie on this list once and for all. I've never been paying nearly as much attention to the Cohens as I should have, and it's high time to do something about that.
Pretty sure my favorite's still gonna be Raising Arizona, though. I enjoy pretty much every genre the Cohens veer into, but I'm especially fond of comedy. And Raising Arizona is a pure-bred comedy. Tightly written, impeccably timed, genuinely funny instead of just shocking and scatological - just the kind of movie one wishes modern comedians could still be bothered to make.

I was gonna say that I'm surprised that "A Serious Man" wasn't even mentioned. It's fairly recent and quite interesting. I want to say the article author doesn't know about it, except that Inside Llywellyn Davis is probably even less well known(if less quirky).Xerosch said:
Llewyin Davis is absolutely brilliant and one of my favorite films of the last couple of years. And that soundtrack. Isaac is just as great a singer and guitar player as he is an actor. I recently watched Another Day, Another Time, a concert in celebration of the films soundtrack and there's some great performances in there.
I'd say O Brother, Where Art Thou? is the best Cohen brothers movie to show to your grandkids... followed by Raising Arizona and/or The Big Lebowski, if my grandmother's correct...
Other than that, I consider Burn After Reading to be my third favorite Cohen brothers movie so far...
