Question of the Day, January 10, 2011

This past weekend, we learned quite a bit [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/106779-First-Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim-Details-Leaked] about Bethesda's upcoming Elder Scrolls V. With all this new information, are you excited about Skyrim?

Oblivion held my attention for awhile, so we'll see how it stacks up and if I feel like it at the time.

I'm not interested enough to buy the game but with the amount of people I know who love Oblivion I'm certain I'll borrow it off one of them someday.

Uber-psyched.

I'm likely going to get it for PC, 360, and PS3.

I'll eventually have a PC than can run the new engine.

Until then, the console version will do me.

I'll definitely end up getting it, but I'm not turning somersaults in anticipation. I was a little on edge to see which direction Bethesda was gonna go with V, and I must say I wasn't all that impressed when it was announced that they're cutting yet more skills from V - I wasn't a fan of the skill cutbacks in IV and so to hear that they're hacking yet more out...

Still, I shall keep my fingers crossed and (despite my misgivings) place the latest Elder Scrolls firmly on my 'To Buy' list.

Yea, One of the things that I liked about Oblivion was that I was still learning about it while a considerable way in to it. It's a game where you needed to learn how to live in that world. Nothing wrong with that.

The reason "I could go either way" is that I just finished New Vegas and that was a complete fiasco. I know Skyrim is supposed to have a whole new engine and everything but I'm not convinced a new engine wont create a whole bunch of new problems.

If I do get it, I'll be getting it for the PC and I'll probably hold out for goty.

Im playing elder scrolls 4 for the first time atm, and im only an hour in. If I like it and Im hungry after, I may get it. But I may be bored of it when im done, so I might wait a while, they take a few years to come out anyway

Chances are it'll throw up a mountain of new problems. Let's hope that they're all fixed prerelease this time around...

I'll play, it, but more from an educational standpoint. I don't think I want to play it for actual fun, but instead to study the kind of game it is and how the various systems work, and analyzing how they tried to improve on Oblivion (which I thought needed a lot of improvement).

GIBBIDY!
I've got a calender specially for it (Plus it's four days before my birthday :3)

I decided to play it at 11 minutes and 11 seconds past 11.
So it'll be 11:11:11 11/11/11

I have never been this excited for a game before.
Except maybe Ocarina of Time on 3DS.

But still! I have it on my calender, and on a scale of 1 to 10, I am 100% excited!

Wait...

"I'll probably end up getting it." fits my stance perfectly.

I liked Morrowind a bit, back in the day, but especially level-scaling ruined Oblivion for me.

Now I've read that it has level-scaling, but it's based on the system Fallout 3 has. So it's a lot better and far more sophisticated. I didn't even knew Fallout 3 had any kind of level-scaling.

I'm trying to restrict my game purchases for 2011 to Diablo III (a must buy), and then maybe Dragon Age II, Skyrim, Portal 2. I really got into buying games from Steam just last year and I've bought so many games it's a bit embarrassing. It's going to be a long long time when I even get to play them the amount I'd like to.
