Right now, I'm not that interested in it. I've played Fallout 3 and maybe an hour of Oblivion. So far, its ok... probably need to play more to see if I like it or if it will end up and horrible as Dragon Age was.

I don't know. To me, Oblivion felt very much like it was meant to end the series so I didn't expect any games to come after it. So the fact that they're making another one is like a "WTF?" to me. Then again, I feel the same way about Diablo III.

I can't wait. I've sunk hundreds of hours into Oblivion (with mods) (unfortunately I couldn't really get into Morrowind because my character was unable to even hit mudcrabs) and I think Skyrim will turn out to be absolutely great, too.

I'm very interested but my RPG plate is pretty full with Vegas & ME2 coming out for PS3.
Once I've had my fill of those I've promised myself I'd check out Dead Rising & possibly GT5 for a change of pace. It should be quite a while before I'm ready to check out Skyrim, and if ME3 comes out first that day will probably never come without seriously good reviews & word-of-mouth.

Can't wait for it.

Although these polls are getting worse - there's one "pissing my pants" option, and then rest range from "meh" to "fuck no".

I am hoping to love skyrim, but I really need it to up its gameplay factor for me to want to buy it. The combat needs to be fixed so it feels like a fps, since I play it that way not in third person. It never felt right when I was swinging swords in oblivion, I think it was because the RPG and combat were at odds with one another. You really felt like you could see the hit points come off and it wasn't a fluid combat. I would think if melee was as visceral as say condemned 2, you might get the feeling you cleaved an orc in the face rather than, whittling down hit points until he falls into a limp ragdoll.

I didn't really enjoy Oblivion (If I'm honest I've only played a few hours - enjoy having a cutlass though), so I'm not super psyched for Skyrim - but I suppose if it looks good upon it's release I may check it out.

My level of excitement for Skyrim is currently hovering between "OMG OMG OMG WHY IS IT NOT NOVEMBER YET" and "I cannot speak because my head has just exploded from excitement and therefore I am dead".

The best thing so far: the dual-wielding system. I can't explain how much it pleases me that I'll FINALLY be able to make my character left-handed... that's a small but important detail (to me, at least) that virtually every RPG I've ever played has missed.

I still dunno if I'm gonna get it, I never really wanted to get Oblivion, but I ended up getting it a a good 3 for 2 deal thing... I might pick this up eventually when it gets nice and cheap.
However, this guy has the same idea as me regarding the engine (Which looks very nice judging by the screenshots)

... knowing Bethesda's past history with this matter, I am interested in Skyrim's engine. That same engine will most likely be powering Fallout 4, and Fallout 4 I am very interested in.

I'll definitely end up getting it, but I'm not turning somersaults in anticipation. I was a little on edge to see which direction Bethesda was gonna go with V, and I must say I wasn't all that impressed when it was announced that they're cutting yet more skills from V - I wasn't a fan of the skill cutbacks in IV and so to hear that they're hacking yet more out...

Still, I shall keep my fingers crossed and (despite my misgivings) place the latest Elder Scrolls firmly on my 'To Buy' list.
Yea, One of the things that I liked about Oblivion was that I was still learning about it while a considerable way in to it. It's a game where you needed to learn how to live in that world. Nothing wrong with that.

The reason "I could go either way" is that I just finished New Vegas and that was a complete fiasco. I know Skyrim is supposed to have a whole new engine and everything but I'm not convinced a new engine wont create a whole bunch of new problems.

If I do get it, I'll be getting it for the PC and I'll probably hold out for goty.
new vegas and skyrim are developed by two different companies. apples and pears my friend.

OT: they had me at elder scrolls
I know that the devs are different but what I was trying to say is that Bethesda were the publishers and share the responsibility both of the engine used in New Vegas as well as letting the title go gold before making it playable.
Trust me, I'm just as wary (if not more) of anything that will come out by Obsidian either. If Bethesda was completely innocent in the New Vegas travesty, then I wouldn't be routed to their site when I was trying to file complaints.

Besides, I don't know if you remember, but the last game Bethesda developed didn't exactly run like clockwork either. Unless the clock was made by, stray cats.

Being a fan of TES since Arena, I'm really looking forward to buying it. And one of the few times I won't be waiting until the price drops.

I have it on pre-order, and have done since the very moment it was announced and appeared on Amazon. Hopefully that answers the question.
