Minecraft's Musical Blocks Already Playing Portal Theme

Minecraft's 1.2 beta update added musical blocks that are already being put to good use, Portal style.

Minecraft is apparently aiming to become the be-all end-all of creation games. With the addition of musical note blocks in Minecraft's 1.2 beta update, we're soon to see a wave of popular music written in the game along with its Portal [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/104029-Player-Creates-Working-Computer-in-Minecraft]?

YouTube's Tritex989, also known as Mikael, has already put together a successful first rendition of the popular Coulton song using only note blocks. With the flip of a switch and some well-placed torches, Mikael's Minecraft version of Still Alive is perfectly timed out right until its second phrase. Hopefully, he'll expand the song to play in its entirety.

You do all realize what this means, right? Minecraft has become the next Mario Paint [http://www.amazon.com/Mario-Paint-Super-Nintendo/dp/B000035Y1H/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1295113513&sr=1-1]:

And the next LittleBigPlanet [http://www.amazon.com/LittleBigPlanet-2-Playstation-3/dp/B002I0K780]:

Not only will we be inundated with Minecraft versions of objects like the Starship Enterprise [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/103834-Minecraft-Player-Needs-Help-Building-Scale-Star-Trek-Enterprise], but the theme songs associated with these objects too. The music from Star Trek can not be far behind. Is there anything Minecraft won't end up doing?

People have way too much time on their hands :p

But still, the dedication is crazy, good job.

I just love this game so much..
I wish i was a little more creative than just building houses and other boring stuff...

I guess a "well played, sir" is in its right place...

It's mind boggling to think that note blocks have only been in the game for 3 days. Don't these people sleep?

The game will probably even let us build rockets and take us to the moon eventually (just me dreaming). Honestly, Minecraft will end up dominating our lives. Minecraft toys, gadgets, operating systems, games, everything will be minecraft. Heed my warning. Minecraft will come for you...BEWARE THE CUBES!

And that should be the new mega-project. Someone needs to build the Tower of Babel so that the moon can be reached.

Insert one-liner here.

Well this is a bit underwhelming compared to what other people have done with Minecraft, its been harped about once too many about a fully simulated 16-bit computer and i have seen videos of a fully automatic transit system that doesnt use coal powered carts.

Not to say that its not nice, but its not the best we have seen so far.

Ill probably buy this game later today if not tomorrow. At which point i shall attempt to construct a network of lava spewing doom fortesses. And a fort in the nether for when i get bored.

This is one of the most awesome updates for minecraft in recent times. So many possibilities have been opened up with it. Arrow traps (which is the largest use for dispensers) and musical shenanigans, such as my server attempting to recreate the indiana jones theme.

Well thats interesting. Although to be honest I've heard enough of Still Alive to last me a lifetime and if I listen to it anymore I may go insane.

Now when will there be new records for the jukeboxes?

I'm still waiting for the scale replica of WOW made in minecraft to be announced. There's bound to be someone doing that somewhere.
