Capcom has revealed that Akuma and Taskmaster will appear in cross-over fighter Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The pair's inclusion confirms more than a month of rumors about the characters, starting with a leak of the roster on Twitter [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/106148-Twitter-Poster-Supposedly-Reveals-Marvel-vs-Capcom-3-Secrets], followed by leaked art [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/106448-UPDATE-Marvel-vs-Capcom-3-Comic-Artist-Accidentally-Confirms-Galactus], and then a screenshot [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/106705-MvC-3-Adds-Wrestling-Mayor-and-Space-God-to-its-Roster] from an early review.


Akuma, the vicious and brutal brother of Ryu and Ken's master, Gouken, first appeared as a hidden character in Capcom's Super Street Fighter 2. Akuma uses a similar fighting style to Ryu, but has modified it to suit his own ends. Fans of the Street Fighter games will find pretty much all of Akuma's familiar moves are in there, from air fireballs, to his teleport dash, to his Raging Demon ultra combo. One the Marvel side is Taskmaster, who first appeared in 1980 as a foe for the Avengers. Taskmaster has the unique ability to learn a person's fighting style, just by watching them. In the game, this is represented by his cherry-picking techniques from other fighters - like Spider-Man's swing kick or Captain America's shield dash - along with plenty of moves of his own.

After Haggar and Phoenix earlier this month, Akuma and Taskmaster are the second pair of characters to be accurately predicted by the Twitter leak from December, At this point, it seems a pretty safe bet that the final pair, Darkstalkers Hsien-Ko, and a robotic Sentinel from the X-Men comics, are also correct, as well as the appearance of the planet-eating Galactus as the game's final boss.


Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds comes out for Xbox and PS3 on February 15th.

I want it in my 360, right now. I know there's still so much to pull from with Marvel and Capcom. I want to smash face with Molly Hayes and Nico Minoru.

I wonder how insane the DLC is going to get with this game. Next thing you know, in March the roster is going to be about 150 characters, if you bought all the DLC, otherwise you can just play against them.

Oh hell yeah!!! Taskmaster is in the game!!! (He is one of favourite characters in Marvel comics). His ultra is bad ass (that sword slashes and finish the person off with a gun shot).

Ahhh, Taskmaster I always felt he was an under used character. Great potential just nothing happend with him other than training goons for AIM and Hydra. What a waste.

I do believe at :50 in Akuma's video he's fighting the final boss. If you pause the video and look closely at the middle of the screen, it says "Save the Earth".

I think I'm gonna have to buy Capcom a special present, a box full of corks to plug those leaks they have everywhere. It actually became less about "will this character be in this game?" and more about "how good are they going to be?"

Maybe, but you can't deny that a oversized Doom (I think its Doom) with a giant health bar fighting against three characters is special. Miniboss maybe? Or a boss game mode?

Ahhhh I didn't notice that! Plus, if you read the last bit of the post it says that Galactus is the big boss. I hope there is more than one boss though, that means there is a bigger story mode!!

I don't know how well Nico would do in the game. Maybe Karolina Dean. However, Molly would be perfect in this game.
