Scarface Earns Guinness Record For Foul Language

"You know what? **** you! How about that?"

<a href=http://www.amazon.com/Scarface-World-Yours-Playstation-2/dp/B0007PLKZM/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1295564276&sr=1-1>Scarface: The World is Yours was critically lauded for its gameplay when it came out, though it was also somewhat infamous for the amount of mature content the game contained. While there was plenty of violence, it turns out that the game's swearing was prevalent enough to set a Guinness World Record.

As it turns out, Racial Entertainment's game contained over 5,000 instances of explicit language. <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Guinness-World-Records-Gamers-2011/dp/0744012619/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1295565147&sr=8-1>Guinness World Records: 2011 Gamer's Edition also includes a ton of other world records, like who the most popular game character is (Mario, according to 13,000 gamers who were polled) and what the largest number of gamers to play a karaoke game is (10,490).

Up until now, I was under the impression that House of the Dead: Overkill <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.98472-House-of-the-Dead-Overkill-Sets-F-Bomb-Record?page=2>held the record for potty-mouth antics, but I guess I was wrong.

Bad publicity is the best publicity?

Is this even bad publicity?

I dunno..... But I bet sales have rocketed with rebellious teenagers.

Actually that was Mafia II recently... but now they've gone back on it again.

The foulest game I personally played was True Crime: New York City. I'm certain literally half the dialogue lines in the game contain at least an instance of the word 'fuck'.

I guess in Scarface all dialogue has the word 'fuck' in it. No exceptions.

Or 'Belgium', I guess.

5000? Awesome!

Although KillZone 2 and Gears 2 had a lot of swears, 5000 is the new mark! I have a feeling Epic Games just said "Challenge Accepted!"

I need to get that book, 2010 is still gathering dust on my shelf.

Yeah, not surprising. That game was kinda bland. Apparently no-one told them that someone had already made GTA: Vice City four years previously.

On a peripherally related note, I would like to draw attention to the following further proof that Bas Rutten is actually the most talented man alive:

In fact, Bas Rutten can do a better impersonation of Al Pacino as Tony Montana than Al Pacino can do an impersonation of a Cuban accent.

Well, if you think about it, House of the Dead overkill was limited to it's linear campaign to dish out foul language so there is little wiggle room, while Scarface was an open sandbox with tons of little character interactions to put swears in.

5000 swears? And Overkill had a little over a hundred? There must be something wrong here. Is this going by scripted dialogue, or the amount of times 'fuck' was said during someone playing and someone counting? Or was each and every different dialogue line listened to and recorded?

Scarface was not a bad little movie licensed GTA clone. It was pretty friggen hard though towards the end.
