Charlie Sheen's Rehab Might Cost CBS, WB Millions

The Two and a Half Men star is headed for what sounds like a much-needed three months in rehab, but that time could mean big money for CBS and Warner Bros. Television.

Before Charlie Sheen went on a weekend-long bender, one that reportedly included a few escorts and a lot of cocaine, the creative forces behind his hit show Two and a Half Men were worried. Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, recently made public the concerns CBS had for the actor's well-being, noting that CBS has, "a very good relationship with Warner Bros., but there have been no discussions about contingency plans in the event Sheen becomes unavailable." Hindsight, as they say, is 20/20, and it looks like CBS and Warner Bros. may be wishing they had a contingency plan in place. After being admitted to the hospital for severe abdominal pain, the actor has shifted his recovery to an unspecified rehabilitation facility, where he plans on staying for at least three months. Men only has two shows in the can, and is going on a production hiatus. The potential cost of the whole affair could top $250 million. Sheen gets a reported $2 million per episode, though, so there's one cost saved.

Men is in its eighth season, and has been renewed for a ninth. If Sheen's demons force the show's cancellation, airing network CBS could lose millions in advertising revenue: THR reports, "CBS sells 30-second spots in Men for more than $200,000, according to media buyers, generating more than $3 million per episode...the show grossed CBS more than $155 million in ad revenue last season alone." According to the same source, production company Warner Bros. Television stands to lose "nearly $2 billion for the first two syndication cycles that extend through the 2020-21 season." $250 million of that is for the done syndication deals for the current eighth and upcoming ninth seasons.

Two and a Half Men is, for some reason, the second most popular comedy for viewers 18-49, and the most popular primetime comedy overall. It's also the most popular comedy currently in syndication.

In a stroke of inappropriately funny coincidence, the first of the two completed episodes left to air is called "Three Hookers and a Philly Cheesesteak."

Because not everyone agrees with what you find enjoyable. Considering the garbage like Jersey Shore and other similar reality TV shows that are all over the air, this show is actually pretty damn good.

Are you fucking kidding me? That show is TERRIBLE
To each their own. I think it's easily one of the funniest shows on TV, next to Futurama.

Instead of paying him in money, just pay him in drugs. Everyone goes home happy, and some happier than others.

As rude as this is, all I could think of when I read this was what Dr. Insano said in Spoony's Ferris Bueller review.

"Wait. Charlie Sheen's playing a drug dealer? How the hell did he pull that one off?"

Still, regardless of whether or not the show is affected, I hope he does get better, and doesn't let that happen again.

You know, I actually like Two and a Half Men. It's not my favourite show, or anything, but I enjoy it. I just find it outrageous that Charlie Sheen makes so much money for playing himself.

I'm kinda wishing it does get canceled. It's funny but they ran out of ideas a long time ago. Put Big Bang Theory back on Monday.

For 2 mill an episode I'd be so freaking clean I'd pee Mr.Clean and fart Febreze (the product not the mascot, although that much money I'd see what I can make happen).

I prefer HIMYM tho, so *shrug*.

Maybe They'll realize he isn't worth it? It sucks to hear that one sex joke from the fourth grade over and over again.

Well, that's what you get for casting CHARLIE FUCKING SHEEN!

Seriously, anyone who keeps up with entertainment news, even occasionally, has known for a long time that Charlie Sheen is a danger to himself and others, not to mention a tremendous douche. You'd think they would have seen this coming.

Well, I guess you can't just axe one of the main characters of a popular prime-time show on a moment's notice; or even a year's notice. I mean, it's not like this is a soap opera we're talking about.

I'd say CBS had better plan to cut their losses and figure out a way to write Sheen out of the show. It'll still be the end of 2 +1/2 Men, probably, but better for CBS if the show dies a slow death than to let Sheen cut its head off in one fell stroke.

Canned laughter and forced jokes are good? I suppose it's all subjective after all, so...

Although, comparing anything to reality TV would make it good. Big Bang Theory would look like the best thing since sliced bread next to Jersey Shore.

I personally hate Big Bang Theory.

Ooooh, Philly Cheese steak...that sounds delicious. And I don't really understand the issue here. Man has his vices, and still maintains a level of consistent humor for most of his fans. Anyone remember Friends the 10 season hit show, with Chandler's visible smack addiction for, what, half the damn show? Or Robert Downey Jr, remember him? Three months isn't that bad to clean himself up for.

I get a few cheap giggles every now and then, but I've never really liked this show. Plus, Charlie Sheen is a douche... why can't he be a bad ass like his dad?
