Ubisoft Hunting for Assassin's Creed Expert

All that time on the rooftops of Rome hunting down Templars might come in handy in the real world.

Ubisoft is looking for someone who knows the Assassin's Creed universe back to front to work on a new encyclopedia, collecting all the series' lore in a single place. Posting on the UbiWorkshop blog [http://ubiworkshop.myshopify.com/blogs/news/2889762-we-need-you], the publisher stressed that this was a job offer, and not a crowdsourcing exercise.

The job requires knowledge of all the different parts of the Assassin's Creed series, from the games, to the books and comics, and even the animated short. Candidates will also have to be able to write well, but that kind of goes without saying. Ubisoft is willing to accept submissions from anyone who cared to apply, saying that it didn't want to miss out on someone with talent and passion just because he or she didn't have five years of experience under his or her belt.

The first step of the application process is a writing test; Ubisoft is asking for two encyclopedia entries on characters, artifacts, or events of the series. Applicants can write about two of the following: a main character like Desmond, or Ezio; a major supporting character like Lucy or Malik; one of the series' myriad items, such as the Animus, or the Piece of Eden; or a major historical event that appears in the series. Ubisoft says that it will look particularly favorably on applicants who can make comparisons between the events of the games and how the same events happened in the real world.

There are a few other stipulations, which you can read about on the blog post. Ubisoft says that applicants need not live in Montreal - where the Assassin's Creed team is based - but that it would be useful if they did. If you have the knowledge, this is a great opportunity to put those geeky skills to use. It sounds like Ubisoft wants to take the encyclopedia in a really interesting direction too, making something informative but fun as well.

Soooooo... they wrote/created a game they don't have full knowledge about?
Hold on a second, I need to think this through.

That is what you get for having many writer. I don't think that is a question of "not knowing" but more of composing the knowledge together if a form that is for the licking of the audience/fan base. And beside, it is easier to judge someone else's works than yours. Don't you agree?

Why don't they just use the wiki? It has comparisons with real life events, contains all of the story from all of the media and even has some speculation.

Even a detailed timeline:

Isn't that what fan wiki's are for?
This here. There's a wiki for everything.
I think they're looking to make a more "offical" type of thing.
Can't get more official than that. I sometimes checked out the wiki, it's professional and in-depth as it gets, seriously.
Apparently it's quite recognized as well:

Anyway, I've read the comics, a bit of the novels, watched the live-action mini-series and that animated short ...but I'm a complete failure of a writer. Oh well. :[

Your points are valid guys, information is already out there and they should have a clue about what they released .. but still your replies are missing a few ideas I think:

They're looking to involve the community, which is not bad. They're offering money in return for the help of centralising data, which is not bad either. It might be they don't want to create yet another wiki, and the data could take the form of something more intereting / appealing - which again, would not be bad.

I'd say if you're a fan it's an option to consider, and if not who cares anyway. :)

All this "isn't there a wiki already?" talk is kinda silly.

By hiring a fan to do something they should already know? Wiki is the "fan" that already knows everything about it.
