While there isn't enough information, the whys and the hows etc I probably would, besides he'd probably come in handy if the store got robbed.
A couple people have said this. It's wrong. If anything its a reason NOT to hire.

I've trained lots of cash handlng employees. No employer with a brain wants an employee who does anything other than hand over the money. You have insurance for the theft. Dead or permanently injured employees (or customers) are generally a much greater liability.
I was aiming more at a joke but yes I'm aware, I work at Tesco myself (a large supermarket chain for those unaware) and I've been taken through the drills. I doubt many people would put themselves on the line for money that wasn't theirs anyway =P

I'd find a job in the freight room, where he wouldn't be around customers, or handle money, but could still earn enough to support himself.

This is actually why our system is the way it is. No one will hire you because you went to prison for selling crack, so people feel like the only option is to go back to selling crack.
(Just an example)

I might be a little harder on him than other people, but yeah I would (assuming he's the best candidate).

ok so it's hypothetical situation time

you are the manager of a grocery store who receives a job application from an Ex-convict (charged with murder) asking for a job. the man seems to be in good shape , and has had no problems with the law in the past 3 years sense his release .(for good behavior)

would you hire him?

my reason for asking is the new episode of The Big Picture. A shocking amount of people don?t seem to believe in second chances I?m curious is this really so or does it just seem that way.

A) please don?t change your opinion after opening this

B) I don?t watch sports so I?m not a ?fan? trying to defend my idol
The principals are hardly the same as for the rant on the big picture. Also I have come to believe that many people here at the Escapist will agree with Moviebob and Yahtzee unquestionably.

The only reason I wouldn't hire him is because its pretty easy to get another person hired in this economy, and it would be far safer.

Nope. I don't want a murder working for me.

Also, I didn't have to open your spoiler to know exactly what it said.

I believe in second chances. I wish what's-his-name all the luck in the world. At football.

I don't want him on the cover of a video game. Because I care a lot more about the reputation of the video game industry than I do about sports.

And to be clear, I don't want ANY criminal on the cover of a video game. Except video games about crime, in which case the criminals on the cover are generally fictional.

Putting a criminal (any criminal) on a game cover isn't "forgiving" them - it's celebrating them. Forgiving them is letting them play sports again (or whatever) and we've already done that. And getting to play a sport does not automatically you get to be on a game cover.

I'm not one of those people who's like "he's the devil and should burn" - he did something bad, he paid for it, he should get on with his life. But he should NOT be on the cover of a video game, because that is a celebration of him and his career, and that involved him going to prison for a while, so it isn't a career that should be celebrated.
