Left Behind Games Giving Games To Its Own Investors

Left Behind Games wants to give you a free game, provided that you've already kicked in some serious cash to the company.

Left Behind Games is certainly determined to get its software titles into as many hands as possible. In the past, the publisher has relied on tactics <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/99908-Christian-Game-Publisher-Looks-to-Walmart-for-Help>like Walmart placement to increase awareness of its games. Now, it's giving a free game to investors.

Basically, the offer is being extended to investors because it wants to show off its new downloadable game software, which "protects games through the use of database checking activation codes."

In the announcement, Left Behind's CEO Troy Lyndon stated, "Often I hear people ask, 'what's really so special about your games?' Now, those interested can see for themselves why Charlie Church Mouse is loved by so many kids and parents alike, and why our other quality Christian games represent a life-improving, healthy alternative to many of the video games currently on the market. It's as simple as downloading it to your PC right now. And there's no obligation."

This seems a little confusing: How exactly is this promotion supposed to raise more money for the company? Maybe by showing investors how secure the company's download system is, it'll convince them to kick in some more cash? With any other publisher, this would seem weird, but Left Behind Games has a history of strange tactics ...

So.... online activation? Which is in practically every game now and is hated with a fiery passion by me?

Unless its a constant online check, in which case its the reason Spore was the most pirated game of 2008. Also hated with a fiery passion by just not me, but the entire gaming community. I'm talking about Spore's DRM, I'm one of the 6 people who liked Spore.

I think their choice of company title need to be re-thought if they want investor support. There is also the fact that they make christian games which in itself limits the demographic they can sell to greatly. That is not to say I would not play a christian game that was really good, like Fallout NV fun.

I'm all for "to each their own" but comon! Talking about online activation like it's the wave of the future or something, it's been done to death in more ways wrong then good. I think their name speaks for themselves "Left Behind", that sounds about right.

I like to imagine the developers watched this and decided to base their ad on it.

I must be slow - just got that there. Really not a good title for a games company is it? Also, the music for that video was way too dramatic for the accompanying imagery, I thought.

Wow, they look like shit. Not ragging on Christianity here, but anything marketed as the Christian something of anything, is shit 99% of the time. Only good thing I can think of is Stryper, and they're just okay.

Probably the same for other religions, though.

I hope they do well.

I have not seen a good Christian game since Spiritual Warfare on the Original Gameboy.

I hope they do well.

Left Behind, the pathetically bad book series?

I read a blog by a really great guy that has dedicated one thread a week to going through those books a couple pages at a time and dissecting them. It's awesome and hilarious. Do a google search for the Slacktivist.

I remember playing a bit of one of their games. I had to indoctrinate people and then turn them into soldiers who would protect my other dudes from marauding rockbands. I shit you not.

Your not going to get anymore sales pandering to Christians guys, you've already suckered in the parents stupid enough to buy your tripe.

Kids don't have fun with your games and that's why they don't sell.

This was my exact thought process as I watched that video;

-Okay....
-*music comes in*WHOA, crazy extreme!
-Introducing! The most fucking important life changing game for kids!
-EVER FUCKING PRODUCED
-Christian video ga-myah, wah?
-Pra-...ise champion?
-Charlie Church Mouse....yay?
-Alright, King Soloman's fucking sodomy orgy! Wait, trivia game?
-Uhhh...alright, alright, make a fucking difference!
-Can you goddamn fucking imagine?
[HEADING=2]-Quality
-Fucking
-Inspired
-Fucktons of awesome![/HEADING]
[HEADING=1]Christian Video Games!!![/HEADING]
-For you, mother fucker!
-OR your loved ones!
-For a limited time...
-Get your free NOW!!

-......okay, the fuck did I just watch?

Jesus Christ, with the music you'd think they're announcing the final Harry Potter movie (there's a joke in there somewhere...).
