Also, Grandma go Run Over by a Reindeer, what started out as a joke is now a "Christmas Classic" also, the song is kinda shit.

Well here in the UK we are only subjected to number 8 on this list some of the others I haven't heard either ever or in many years.

We get slade - merry christmas everybody (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0A8KT365wlA) and Wham! - Last Christmas (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8gmARGvPlI) that's it, those 3 songs on repeat for all December EVERY DAMN YEAR!

None of these songs make me sick. Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas" however...

Even worse is it spawned another Christmas kid's special.

OT: At least I haven't been out long enough lately to hear these repeating endlessly in stores. Hearing them a couple times a year is ok, but being stuck in a building with the same 3-4 songs locked on a loop for an hour, while trying to avoid falling victim to the typical sales psychology, can create bad holiday mojo.

Go look up "A Very Scary Solstice" and "An Even Scarier Solstice" by the HP Lovecraft Historical Society (HPLHS) for a Cthulhoid take on most (if not all) of these songs and more!

Working in a supermarket is hell this time of year. Christmas carols have been playing for almost a month now. But by far the worst Christmas carol is "Christmas Where the Gum Trees Grow". It makes me shudder every time I hear it. P.s I am Australian and hate Aussie accented Christmas carols.

Enjoy! http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uvazmEwP-8o

That needs to be on this list. Radio stations play this song so much, and it does not help that there are so many covers for the song, so I imagine stations play it because there are so many versions.

OT: I never mind hearing most Christmas songs over and over again. However, the John Lennon/Yoko Onno gets old very fast for me, mainly because stations play it a lot.

Here's a song that belongs on there: My Favorite Things. I hear radio stations play this all the time during Christmas time. IT'S NOT EVEN A CHRISTMAS SONG, YOU IDIOTS!

*sigh* If only more radio stations played Christmas songs like this:

The one thing that still makes me cringe from my days working retail is the Christmas Music piped into the stores.
You quickly realize there's only about 9 or 10 actual songs on rotation sung by 7 or 8 different performers.

After a 9 hour shift and the 15th rendition of Frosty the Snowman I dare anyone not to be a little on edge.

I must say, I don't think that I have ever heard number 5 or 6 in my life, and I live with someone who is pretty much obsessed with playing Christmas songs over and over again throughout the entirety of December. It must be an American thing.

I'd never heard of number 5 until today...but not on this list. I heard it in my Students union and god was it annoying. I must say, out of all the list, it's the only one that's annoyed me the first time I heard it. The others mostly just get a "meh" out of me. Like, at first I thought they were ok, then as I heard them year on year the mood switched to annoyance and then to boredom. That is, apart from "wonderful christmastime", which I think is decent enough. It's not spectacular, but it's decent enough.

Could be worse. Back in 2001, there was this CD called Pokémon Christmas Bash with lovely gems like "I'm Giving Santa a Pikachu for Christmas" and a medley of classic Christmas songs rewritten with Pokémon lyrics. Like these new lyrics for "Jingle Bells":

"Poké Balls,
Poké Balls,
Throw them all the way
You may catch the Pokémon
You want on Christmas day, Hey!"

My nemesis: "Christmas Dinner Country Style"-- a Christmas square dance song.
Couldn't stand that one as a kid. Now that I'm an all-grown-up hipster dufus, I can appreciate it on the quirky level.

My daughter discovered "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas" last year. It is starting to wear a bit thin. Still, she sings it with enough enthusiasm to make me smile.

I'm guessing the OP worked in retail where these songs are played on repeat from early November (or even October), either that or he's Ebenezer Scrooge's less cheerful brother!

So full of hate for these songs :p

Unlike my fellow retail workers, I love these songs.

Except Holly Jolly, which I never liked, and the McCartney one, which I'm not sure I've heard before.

And now you've reminded me of the TMNT Christmas special.

And if I have to suffer, others should, too. >.>

I know right? Heck, Rudolph, Here Comes Santa, and Holly Jolly Christmas are the only ones I wouldn't count among my favourites.
