As someone who played without DSFix and attempted to play without a gamepad I have to ask - have you tried the latter? The keyboard controls are horrible and make my hands hurt more than playing DMC3/4 on a keyboard (I actually finished both games without a gamepad). Using a mouse is all kinds of horrible. Sure, most of glorious PC gaming master race owns a gamepad and some games are clearly meant to be played with one, but a good port means adequate K+M controls, see DS2, DMCMC, AssCreed and such. And since my gamepad is bust, combined with my impoverished university student status, I have no way to finish the damn game even though it's a blast and I have a great urge to play it.ChaoshadowZero said:I have never understood people's problems with Dark Souls PC, I've played through the whole game 4 times and never had any issues.
Same with GTA IV, played through it 2 times and no issues.
In both cases GFWL was annoying but bearable, and Dark Souls kicked that in the end.
Can someone explain to me why I constantly see people claiming that Dark Souls is unplayable without DSFix?
Then there are the usual complaints about the graphical options or lack there of, but I don't really care about those as much. To be honest though, DSFix is mostly about those graphics and a lot of gamers have become graphic whores. Can't blame them, really. If I blew 2000 USD on a gaming rig, I'd want my games looking all kinds of pretty as well. But since my favourite games are Fallout 2, BG2 and MnB: Warband I never really cared much for graphics anyway.
One legitimate complaint I remember is the 30 fps cap. That can be bothersome in a game dependent on pattern memorisation and move telegraphing. And I seem to recall GFWL made PvP a glitch fest, exacerbating the fps issue.
