At my collage Video Game club we play Mario Party games on a regular basis (though not nearly as often as Smash) and people hate me because I can button mash faster then anyone due to some abnormality my fingers on my right hand have (to the point there's a specific rule that I can not substitute for anyone during the games).

Also, the Sims is a game series that has got to have one of the most hard core fanbases I have ever seen. I mean wow, I can't think of a game with more hard RP even when thinking of games dedicated to RP.

I'm with some of the posters here, I'm not sure if I would call these guilty pleasures although I get what point the author is trying to get convey. Anyway....

I've only played The Sims and Mario Party and those were a blast. Mario Party is an excellent party game, and playing Sims with a significant other is quite...um...interesting. Come to think of it, I've also played Madden and Harvest Moon, and enjoyed them for what they were. I did like Animal Crossing better than Harvest Moon though....even with the weed pulling.

Pokemon was the one game I would never admit to playing, and not because it is a guilty pleasure. It's more of me ridiculing people when it first came out then being found in an airport lounge almost missing a flight because I was too busy trying to find a gym, and not a gym I'm normally associated with. Thank goodness Instagram wasn't a thing back then.

I haven't really played much of either. I have played Sims when it first came out but quickly realized it was never an actual video game, so I got bored several hours in and never thought about it again.

I have also played bejeweled only if it was a token mini game part of a different game so that doesn't count either.

I played some of the older Madden games back when I first started watching NFL which was around 10 years ago, but have given up on it as well.

So, this article is more wrong that right in my case but I can definitely see the reasoning behind farm simulators and the like

Off-topic, but am I the only person who doesn't torture their sims? I mean I might do it to a neighbor that came over and is being a dick, but even that is typically rare.
No, you're not the only one. I've never done it either. I find the whole idea a bit...weird honestly. I like spending my time building stuff in it and improving my house.

Kind of a fail guilty pleasure list imo, most of those games have a legit reputation.

Try a list with Dead or Alive: Extreme Volleyball, Rumble Roses, Huniepop, Monster Girl, Princess Maker and stuff like that :p

harvest moon is a respectable franchise that is very good. playing it is not a source of shame or embarrassment but a source of pride and good taste.

Have actually not played any of these oddly enough, although Euro Truck Simulator tempts me sometimes.

An actual guilty pleasurew for me would ben that I actually liked the werehog in Sonic Unleashed. Now if only it had been knuckles and had shorter levels.

I fucking love The Sims and I don't care who knows. Gameplay wise they're solid as hell... now the performance may not be the best.

Though I haven't owned one, a Madden game is incredibly fun to play every now and again.

That LP is what made me try Princess Maker in the first place :D
They actually made quite a few PM games too, but sadly to my knowledge they are all in jap and no english translations for them :/ Anyways, Princess Maker is fucking awesome!

No-one else noticed that there is one pre-dominant genre for those games? I mean, are simulators viewed that badly?

What kind of amateur hour 'Guilty Pleasure' list is this? Not even a single mention of Senran Kagura? Or even Dead or Alive? The fact that nobody really talks about playing these games isn't because they want to keep it secret, like an actual guilty pleasure, I can tell you that much.
