If we're allowed to count animated movies, then I'm sorry, this list left out the BEST example.

Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva.

Not only was that a good movie, but it captured the feel, story, characters, atmosphere, even the GAMEPLAY of the games the film was based on.

That movie truly is what video game based movies should try and strive for. Even if you didn't like it or the game it's based on, it's impossible to deny that the movie did a great job of adapting its source material.

And it was released stateside so it's not even some obscure Japanese animated game film that almost nobody has seen like the Animal Crossing movie.

But I was glad to see Mortal Kombat on the list. Good movie or not, Mortal Kombat was just fun.

... Am I alone on hating the Prince of Persia movie? I feel as though nobody else disliked it; just had a sort of burning apathy towards it.
You're certainly not alone. I didn't hate it myself--as a big Prince of Persia fan there was nothing offensive to the series about it, to me (particularly not when compared to the 2008 reboot)--but it was pretty mediocre. Particularly the action was just so poorly shot that it was impossible to tell what was going on. And if you're an action movie with incomprehensible action, well, not much going for you, then. I thought Gyllenhall was solid though.

Also would've liked to see FF: Advent Children over anything else on the list. I mean, yeah it was dumb, but some of those action scenes...totally makes it worth a watch

Or The House of the Dead... euuuugh.
To be fair... The House of The Dead 2 is actually pretty good (!). And it's a shame, because it'll always be overshadowed by that abomination Mr. Boll did.

Resident Evil, all of them B-movies, are awesome in their own right. They're "bad", sure, but they're good at what they do.

As for Final Fantasy, people hated that movie just because it didn't fit into any of their favorite Final Fantasy games/lore. If you ignore the FF in the title, I think you can say it was a decent flick with great visuals.

The only two I would completely disagree with are Resident Evil and Hitman. Both God-awful in my opinion. Especially Resident Evil. I can't even begin to describe how much I hate that film series.

Silent Hill is probably my favourite from this list. I feel it gets shit on too much because people are basically nit-picking at elements such as "Pyramid Head shouldn't be here, it represents James Sunderland's..." and so on. Why wouldn't you include the most iconic Silent Hill enemy in a movie adaptation?

Prince Of Persia is a movie I can't make up my mind about. It's good in it's own way but I felt it could have included more fantasy elements such as the sand demons/monsters. When they were talking about the 'demon covered in needles' guarding the dagger I was disappointed that it was just some guy throwing knives...

Maybe this is a stupid question but was Spirits Within based on a game?? I know it's called Final Fantasy but is there a game with the same plot? I thought it was an original thing... in which case it doesn't belong on this list. I did like it a fair bit though.

What? Resident Evil? What? WHAT!? I really do hope you're joking, because the "Resident Evil" movies are about as accurate to the games as the Mario movie was to the games. I've yet to hear of a single RE fan who didn't think those movies were absolute abominations. Paul W.S. Anderson hasn't made a good movie since Event Horizon (pretty much his best movie), and everything since has been a waste of celluloid. Opinions can differ, I suppose, but calling those movies Resident Evil is an insult to a great series. Same goes for Silent Hill for the most part. There are only three Resident Evil movies, and those are 4D Executor, Degeneration, and Damnation, and those films have more talent, creativity, and quality their opening credits than all of Anderson's filmed middle fingers to RE fans combined.
It's true, the film failed to live up to the poetry that is the RE franchise : P

But in all seriousness, I don't think any of the films listed were actually pretty good, or even kind of good. I think the viewing of Prince of Persia is considered a war crime in some countries. They use it to torture inmates in Guantanamo Bay when they won't cooperate.
