I have to defend "The 13th Warrior"...particularly that specific line given its context in the film.

It was actually quite bad ass!
Seconded or possibly thirded or fourthed at this point. 13th Warrior is one of my all time favourite movies and Hergoi the Joyous is one of my favourite characters ever. I especially loved the scene where he's shooting arrows at the Wendol having the time of his life while Ahmad is sitting there beside him absolutely terrified.

I'll also agree that context is badly needed for this list. What is the 3rd movie anyways?

Is this article supposed to be part guessing game?
I recognize most of these movies, but if they shouldn't have made it to theaters, why?

Be more of an Author; show some AUTHORITY on the subject.

Besides 7,8,9 and mars needs moms I loved all of those movies. (I haven't seen the other ones) I'm glad they didn't put the newest Indiana Jones on there. Despite all of the hate I still really enjoyed it. Not my favorite, but not nearly as bad as people make it sound.

Some context would help this go a LONG way. Also, where is Batman and Robin, or Battlefield Earth?
Battlefield Earth was terrible but Batman and Robin was glorious, it was a return to the funnier lighter toned batman like Adam West.

Tough I agree with your statement that this article needs some context to improve itself right now it reads like you did an image search for "worst movies."
I dunno, that "come tend my garden" line was so cringe-worthy, among the awful ice puns. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy both those movies for their their awfulness, but if we are going to discuss "Scripts that should have never made it to the big screen" then both those movies should never come to light in the form we know them as.

Pretty sure this is missing a classic that needs to be addressed:

Mortal Kombat movie:

Character 'Bison' says: "For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday."

Incredible.
You mean Street Fighter the movie.
Fudge. I meant to put in a quote from Mortal Kombat and then put in that quote from the Street Fighter film...

Not really sure how I ended up posting this half complete.

I meant to put in that gem of a quote of "mother! You're alive!", response: "Too bad you... will die!" It is also probably to do with terrible delivery. But a very cringeworthy moment nonetheless. You need to watch it to appreciate the fail.
I was going to say, I never saw Street Fighter, but that line was amazing. Bad movie or not, that's the kind of script writing I want to see in movies. Mortal Kombat... Not so much.

I hope nobody got paid for this...whatever the hell this is.

Literally no context, no discussion, just a thrown together hodge podge list of random 'meh' movies? This passes for...an article?
Yes, it does. I would have liked the titles for one of them, that last one. I'm not sure which one it is. I know the one with Genna Davis was one of the biggest box office bombs of all time.

What about "Master of Disguise"? Oh, that's right: Lisa Foiles was in that. (A deleted scene at least, her first acting credit.)

And then there's James Cameron's "Avatar," the worst movie I've ever seen. The worst script of any movie I've ever seen, bar none.
I think you must've only watched a very high calibre of film, if you consider Avatar to be the worst script you have ever come across.

Seriously, there are much more generic action films, like any Steven Seagal affair, which surely would take the biscuit any day over Avatar.

Sure, Avatar isn't the best film of all time, but to say it has the worst script ever is a complete over-exaggeration.

Sorry Schuyler, but come on, you can do better.

Give us an opinion or context for these please! I am increasingly of the opinion that these GotD things are just a way to Ape Screwattacks bloody irritating Links to Zergnet and It's endless lists. Go to screwattaack and see a bar full of "8 this," "10 of these," "6 reasons why STUFF," and they're all garbage. So is this. It is an unneeded or at least poorly executed feature that feels very Tacked On. I am interested enough to read, and EVERY single one is a giant WTF? Some of those movies many people really Enjoy. I understand that this is your own opinion, but support it. Argue for it. Convince me that 13th Warrior is a bad movie, because I don't buy it, and neither does anybody else. It may not have been a box office hit, but many very good movies aren't. Tell me WHY you think it's crap please.
Great example: Equilibrium. Pretty sure it was straight to DVD, and is a very powerful, well told story. It features great performances as well as solid pacing and action. But sadly many people don't know it exists.
Contreast: The Trasnformers movies. Bo-xoffice blowouts, all of them. Also Garbage. Piss-poor story lines, bland, un likeable characters, Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox talking, and Optimus Prime is the wrong Fu%@ing truck! Oh yeah, and racist, racist, caricatures of Black people, because, you know, reasons.

I flat don't believe you have even seen all those movies, and I don't think anybody else does either.

James Cameron's "Avatar" actually puts on airs though. That's why the script is so terrible. You expect terrible writing from boilerplate action flicks, not the guy who made Rambo a household name (he wrote the first sequel to "First Blood.")

I agree The Script for Avatar is not the worst script ever because it is actually just two good scripts mashed together. It should have been called, "Fern Gully: Return of the Jedi"

I find it frustrating that these lists are typically good discussion topics, but the articles are so lacking that it sabotages the conversation to be about the lame writing instead of our list of 8, or why one of the list doesn't belong.

I think the OP is trying to identify films though where the script is just terrible.

Not terrible in respect of relativity to expectation of what the script could've been.

You don't really get the same level of terrible quote pull-outs of a script like Avatar like you do from genuinely badly written dialogue.

I believe that is the point of the OP, although it isn't entirely clear, to find examples of terrible scripting that it is surprising it even made it onto a cinema screen.

Are you suggesting that James Cameron is the Bob Dylan of film?

Well I won't defend him. I am not a fan and I think Titanic is the biggest part of why not.

I've never heard of Fern Gully. What is it? And I think Avatar could definitely have benefited from the inclusion of Ewoks.

That scene was just one of the examples of what a great job the movie did in showing the contrast between the Viking and Arabic cultures. I just love Ahmed's growth as a character throughout the story.

And that scene referenced in the original "article" is my favorite because it did a brilliant job of depicting how Ahmed learned their language.

And on a side note, the guy who played Buliwyf provides the voice of Ulfric Stormcloak in "Skyrim"!

I actually really enjoyed John Carter. And I watched Green Lantern with super low expectations and found it ok. Not good, but ok. But most of the others I don't know what films they are or why they are bad.
I agree. I liked John Carter too, and found Green Lantern ok. I don't agree with the title of "never should've been made". Just because one person (or a few, or more) didn't like them doesn't mean everyone has to think the same way right? There are many movies I like that received widespread negative reviews. There are also movies that received glowing reviews that I didn't like. But I don't tell other people to avoid them.

Bottom line, let individuals decide for themselves what they like or dislike.
