"The ridiculously named Starkiller"

Not that I disagree that the name is...well a bit over the top, but fun fact: The use of that name is actually a nod to the franchise's origins. As originally drafted, the protagonist of Star Wars was "Anakin Starkiller". The character's concept changed several times before they settled on the character we now know as Luke Skywalker.

No one should ever play Force Unleashed. Aside from some interesting use of physics it was a piece of shit when it came out and it's only gotten worse with age. I could probably name a half dozen Starr Wars games quite easily that are far better.

I'd probably even argue that KotoR isn't worth bothering with either.
The Force Unleashed I can understand but no KOTOR? Why? Generally speaking they're held as one of the best examples of Star Wars done right.
I'll amend my statement about KotoR by mentioning that I take no real issue with the world itself or even the gameplay; even if it is fairly dated it still works and stomping around familiar Star Wars locales is hard not to enjoy to at least some extent. But KotoR is still an RPG and the big draw in the genre is almost always story and characters. With a few exceptions the characters aren't all that interesting, and the story is just about as predictable and boring as a story can be.

Perhaps I'm just a little bitter though because anytime it's come up over the years it seems many people regard the story, and in particular its big plot twist, as one of the best ever in gaming, while I find it difficult to believe anyone was surprised by it enough to even consider it a twist. I'm still honestly convinced that anyone who couldn't see from the very beginning where the story was headed for your character probably fell asleep half way through and didn't know what was happening. I have the same fundamental issue with every Bioware game I've played though. They do fine with all of the secondary stuff that goes into building the world in their games, but their characters are hit and miss and their stories are flat out boring and predictable.

I'd probably recommend anyone interested simply read a plot summary of KotoR and jump straight into KotoR2. It may not be as polished, and a saddening amount ended up being cut in the rush to meet their release date, but it's still a better game by far as far as I'm concerned.
Mind explaining how the twist was in any way predictable? There's no indication (aside from the MC's rather impressive grasp of the Force) that it was coming.

Question: Why is Tie-Fighter the defacto space sim game? Personally I find X-Wing Alliance the most polished and superior in terms of plot which gives a real feel of what it can be like to get swept up in an intergalactic war (except the last mission).

I'm curious as to the status of Force Unleashed in the Canon... because the way TFU2 ended is confusing as fuck, considering the light side ending is supposedly canon and what happens makes absolutely no sense...

The Cloned Apprentice defeats Vader and the rebels basically pack him up, ship him out as a POW... and there's no explanation as to what happened or how Vader escaped...

I was more angry with the way TFU2 ended than anyone I've seen argue how crappy ME3's ending was. I still am actually. Its a game I wish I could erase the memory of playing but alas I don't have that ability.
Unless I'm mistaken, all of the story of the Force Unleashed games got stripped out of the canon when Disney redefined exactly what was and was not canon.

I don't blame you for being angry. I was angry at basically all of TFU2.

Yeah, I know. It was a pretty ridiculous name in that first draft too. Someone should have remembered why they changed it!

Also no Podracer or Dark Forces II?!
Don't tell anyone, but I hated Podracer. Dark Forces II was great, but I didn't want the list to turn out being "Jedi Knight games you should play," and I just liked Jedi Outcast better.

Based on the games I have played the list seem altright.
Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader & Star Wars: TIE Fighter- I have not played it so have nothing to say about them
Star Wars: Dark Forces- I got have it on steam but I have not played it yet
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed- the game is ok, but I don't feel it's worthy of mention. I say battlefront 2 games should have been in it's place.

Star Wars: Empire at War- I remember liking that when I was younger but I recall playing Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds a lot more
Star Wars: Republic Commando- that is a good game
Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast- I second the idea of using the saberrealisticcombat cheat. I remember playing around with the cheats and enjoy the game when I was younger. I replayed it again a year or so ago and still find it to be a great game.
kotor-I peronanaly like kotor 2 better(I use the restored content mod) but the first kotor is still a good game

Toss The Force Unleashed. It's just a lame, Mary Sue, God of War Clone that does terrible things to the Canon. (or did until Disney Junked it all)

I'd Put the Super Star Wars Games in it's place.

Well, at least there was not much of it to be angry at.

The Light Side ending was obviously bait for a sequel that was never made, but that's not all there is wrong with the ending. Because if you pick the Dark Side ending, another clone will magically appear and kill the Player Character before he can finish off Vader, and then wastes his friends for good measure. So, Vader "lied about the success of the cloning process"... but only if you pick Dark Side. Kind of makes a mockery of player decision to have it instantly rewrite events unrelated to it, no?

Still has nothing on ME3, though.

The worst part is your light side or dark side choice somehow effects the battle in space and determinism if your FRI is dead or is fine. Two events that have no connection to your actions.

Though I have to agree with Imperioratorex over you, if I had to pick, I'd put TFU as more aggravating than ME3.

While the clunky on foot sections stop it from being a classic like it's immediate predecessor I feel Rogue Squadron 3 should be included for one simple reason - It includes the entire Rogue Squadron 2 game as a bonus co-op mode.Seriously on top of being a good game in it's own right it also gives you one of the best Star Wars games for free

Anyone who has played it remembers the scene near the end where Starkiller pulls a Star Destroyer from the sky using only the Force
Yeah and anyone who has played it probably remembers that bit being a pain in the ass

Tide me over til Battlefront? Why, I already have Battlefront 2, that's the definitive Battlefront experience that the DICE game most certainly won't be, mainly because it wont' have SP (and with it a reason to exist).
Also, Force Unleashed sucked hard.

Calling it a God of War clone is a great insult to the greatness that is God of War.

Ya, you're right. How about, "It's a bland, God of War Wannabe built on a twelve year olds self insert fan fiction."?

Yup, that sounds just about right.
