Is it wrong that I find the Mouse/Gamepad Chameleon thing actually pretty cool?

Yeah, I kinda like the idea, but unless there's a way to disable the mouse buttons and optic thingy, I can definitely see myself misclicking stuff I didn't want to click.

I think that vest one actually has a market out there in the form of people who play Arma for something that isn't that specific mod we all know which is better as a mod for the game then as a standalone for some reason.

If you're a hardcore RPer in a game like that, where it's more a simulation then a game, the I can see there being a market for it, even if niche.

I have always wanted to get one of those setups that had all the controls for flight sims. But find a decent recent non-www2 flight sim has proven bit of a challenge.

Not the Sidewinder Force Feedback stick!

Also known as how Microsoft destroyed the joystick market selling professional grade potentiometers at a massive loss to all of us gamers. Those things are still the holy grail of sim gamers, good luck getting one of the late model 'red triggers' for under $100.

I'm not surprised that funky sphere thing died in the face of that.

Scrap Arma, anyone using a VR-Headset for any FPS should use it.

I remember one of my friends from high school having a RailDriver... He was also a train aficionado, I think...

Other than that, are those Chameleon mouse controllers still available?

Wow. Whoever designed that IGrip 'keyboard' thing should've thought that through better.
Besides, if you want a keyboard you can hold in your hand, a 'chording' arrangement would work better.
You can, with the right arrangement, fit the entire alphabet into 5 buttons. 6 buttons will get you capital letter and numbers.
7 will get you the entire basic ascii keyset...

With proper design, a device strapped to one hand could manage 7 buttons easy. (several more, 12+ if the person using it is dextrous enough).

Why bother? Well, it'd allow high-speed single-handed typing.
It'd look weird, and it wouldn't be much use for games (not a good layout, and not enough buttons for a PC), but it'd be great for mobile use.

That OCZ headset is like the poor cousin of the Emotiv Epoc headset. Which is a full 14 channel EEG system (and can be used as such by researchers) as a 'game controller' it has a bunch of specialised code that lets it detect aspects of your moods, facial expressions, and be used for 'mind control' (it's like having 4 buttons you can 'push' with thought alone. - It's got this weird quirk where it'll recognise up to 13 programmed actions, but you can only have 4 of them active at once or the system finds it too hard to tell them apart or something)

I've always been interested in trying an Epoc headset, but it'll probably be little more than a niche product forever.
Not only is what it can do for games limited, it takes a huge amount of training.
Most people wouldn't be willing to put up with hours of training the thing to recognise the thoughts associated with the actions you're trying to perform, so it's not likely to catch on regardless of how well it works after the fact.

Let's see... I could pay $130 for a "keypad" that looks like it's been through a furnace and then a blender, and type 50 words per minute, or I can use a $20 regular keyboard and type 120 words per minute.

Tough call, tough call....

Alphagrip iGrip - 40 buttons and still not enough to map all the commands for Elite Dangerous...

Things like the OCZ headset might find a second lease of life in VR - we're wearing a headset to start with, build the "mind reader" into it and you could end up with some cool possibilities..
