Thanks for the review. May wait for this to drop price before purchase unless it has some good UT multiplayer like the first one had for PC.

Still sounds like a ton of fun.

I might get it when I'm done with inFamous 2.

The demo came across as about the same to me. You gota a few cool guns, but the baddies leap around so often that the assault rifle with snap to aiming was the only effective weapon...shame really. I am waiting for a Red fatction that lives up to its potential.

Come on, it went from too open world to linear tunnel shooter? WTF

Correct - the two multiplayer modes are Ruin, where you get points for causing as much damage as possible within a limited amount of time (there's an untimed version for just messing around) and your scores are compared on a leaderboard, and Infestation, where you can team up with up to three friends to fight off waves of aliens - I've heard it compared to Gears of War's Horde mode, but having not played that I can't say how close they really are.

Competitive multiplayer would have alleviated many of the issues I mentioned in the review, since reshaping the battlefield would be meaningful in that context.

This is exactly why I didn't by the game. The only reason I loved the previous game was because it was open world and strategic(somewhat). I don't want another linear shooter.

Sadly, I never got to play the multiplayer because by the time I got the game, noone played online. The trailers made the multiplayer look awesome.

Ammo, more linear, not centered around destruction and rather a story... glad I bought this, because it sounds like it fixed everything that made RF:G suck. "Blow stuff up until you get so far, and they you get a real mission. Oh, and your gun only has 5 bullets while you have an entire army coming after you". If only it was first person...

Great Review.
Had no idea, it wasn't open world.
Glad I only have a PS3 and grabbed inFamous2 today, otherwise I would have picked up Red Faction.
Not being open world is a complete deal breaker, will definitely not be picking up this game until it hits the $20 bin.

That's a shame, when i first heard about this i was totally psyked as i figured it would be just like guerrilla but with better stuff at your disposal. This just sounds like they wanted into the mainstream shooter market and forgot that RF's main selling point was the destructible environments. If that element has been ignored then really why bother buying it? I'll just go play halo instead :/

hence the term Guerilla Warfare. sneak in, cause as much damage and then gtfo BEFORE the army arrives. this is where all that practice on the demo master jobs comes in :p

It just got really annoying driving out to destroy something, then driving back to the base or camp or whatever, and the repeating... Especially in the bigger places where it took a while to drive there. I think I had the most fun with the challenge things were you had to destroy the building with a certain number of specific items because it made you think instead of just running and smashing...

Damn, I had high hopes for this game. The last one was too open world, this one isn't at all. It looks like a series of tunnels and not much else. It can be linear, but it still has to be pretty big.

Nice review.
I'm thinking this is a rental or a wait till I see it on sale. I've no problem with a more focused story but will miss the open world and the demo challenges from guerrilla, I will not miss traipsing back to base and running away from half of the army 5 minuets in to each mission. If you're going to send me back to base every 5 min give me a fast-travel option!

I actually just beat the living shit out of it about a few hours ago, and despite being linear, it is still a pretty fucking awesome game (Though this may be because I have been gameless for the past 2 weeks and have been bored as shit, but don't let that factor, because it was still a good game).

I can't remember if I've seen other reviews by you but you seemed really out of it and like you didn't care about doing the video. However as the video played and I heard more about your thoughts on the game I began to think it was more that it was just so boring and awful you wanted to finish reviewing it and never think about it again.

Either way thanks for saving me 60$ lol

I tried playing Guerrilla tactically sometimes and it never worked quite as well as "blow all dat shit up" so why should I expect Armageddon to be any different?
